During the months of May and June, there will be many mainstream movies that the masses will be swarming to. If you have only one chance to catch a low profile, non-mainstream movie, then I’d like to recommend The Wind That Shakes The Barley, currently showing at The Picture house.

It’s a beautiful movie, set in Ireland in the 1920s. It’s about the war between the Irish and the oppressive British and then shifts focus on the continuing war between the Irish themselves.

The accent may be hard to follow and there are no subtitles but as the film progresses you’ll be so immersed in it that the lack of subs will not be a problem anymore.

Watch it if you can – well worth your time.
