Doggie Howser Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Any idea on ETA? How's the streaming over Wireless? or over Ethernet over Power.
HT102 Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Can they provide HDTV broadcast decoding, replacing the need for set-top boxes (e.g. Draco, Humax)? I hope they do not have stablity issues that commonly plague Sigma Design chipset based devices.
eggz Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Wow, the specs look great! Can we assume they will also decode VC-1 since it's a less "heavy" codec compared to H.264?
desray Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 The 4000SA is here alreadi, but no sign of 5100SH Yeap...and there's a change in the design for the packaging as well. M-4000SA is nothing new except its spotted with HDMI and able to accpet SATA HDD (and no its not the SATA II with 3GB transfer module). I just sold my M-4000P (i.e. IDE-based with DVI connection) to a forumer today. Now I am alreadt experiecing 'withdrawal symptons' of not able to access my video library for the latest DVDs I have ripped and yet have no time to watch...guess have to bear with it for few more weeks to come... :(
Darthfunk Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Bro desray got lobang to get this at a dicount? Can MO? ;D
htfreak Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 Can this guy handle VC1 rips as well. If can, I will start to rip my HD-DVD collection on HDD liao and get one of these babies to do playback.

Only the 4100SA is with HDMI
desray Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 Bro, if i'm not mistaken, 4000SA is still DVI rite? Only the 4100SA is with HDMI By right, M-4000SH ('S' denote SATA and 'H' denote HDMI) should be the correct acronym for the suffix. BUT according to Andy from MemoryWorld, the ones that coming to Singapore (i.e. M-4000SA) have HDMI even though the suffix doesn't fit in the context here. Again I can't confirm that, this is what I gather from Andy via a phone inquiry yesterday. :)

Yes I heard its possible. And if my memory serves me right here...I think we can even attach an XBox 360 HD DVD Drive or equivalent to play HD DVD directly on this little gadget here! Dun quote me here...let me do more research first. As I dun have the hands-on on this gadget as yet...so whatever I stated here, please do yourself a favor, take it at par value and perhaps you can help me out here by googling the web to corroborate my findings... :P
desray Posted May 19, 2007 Author Posted May 19, 2007 Bro desray got lobang to get this at a dicount? Can MO? ;D I can talk to Elvin from MemoryWorld to see what I can do... ;D Hopefully he can see the 'intrinsic' worth :P
wwyjoe Posted May 19, 2007 Posted May 19, 2007 My mistake, you're right. It should have M-4000SH ('S' denote SATA and 'H' denote HDMI). Erhh, bro don't think there's a 4000SH model. The new models are: 1) Tvix M-4100SH 2) Tvix M-5100SH Comparison chart of the differences: http://www.tvix.co.kr/Eng/products/productCompare.aspx

desray Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 So Doggie, will you be selling off your existing M-4000P or is it M-5000A to this new model? :P
desray Posted May 21, 2007 Author Posted May 21, 2007 Guys...do know that the new Sigma chipset 8623 is not as *stable* as the predecessor (EM 8621L)...so prepare yourself for lots of glitches for this unit. Some of the functions which have no problem in M-5000A and M-4000P will be an issue for these new units. **Sighz** Note: HDMI is only 1.1 specs which is pretty much the same as ver 1.2 specs. Hold your breath before clicking on this link posted by users of M-5100SH/M-4100SH in the AVSForum. Let's just put it that it doesn't look very promising... :( Anyway here's the link: http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=10535913 Brace yourself!
calvinmcl Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 Wah! So many issues :-[ Now having second thoughts ::)
Doggie Howser Posted May 21, 2007 Posted May 21, 2007 So Doggie, will you be selling off your existing M-4000P or is it M-5000A to this new model? :P I am still using my HD MediaBox MB-100. Latest firmware is surprisingly stable. Streaming is decent (up to 700MB/45 minute files HR with Dolby Digital) over Power over Ethernet (using 200Mbps that can sustain abt 80? Mbps) Might bring the MB-100 to my bedroom so I can also watch it in the bedroom once the DVIX is here. Personally prefer the 4100 shape. Any idea why they aren't bringing the 4100 first?
