Marantz SR7001, Yammy 1700, Pioneer Ax2

Am getting another AVR to pair with my Quad 11Ls for HT purposes.

 

Marantz 7001 sounds a bit lacklustre and can't upscale to 1080p. Auditioned Yammy 1700 n 2700 at KEC. 2700 is out of my price range though they sound good. Pioneer Ax2 sounds a bit bright but good video upscalibity.

 

Is there any other recommendations?

Bro did you try the 8001? It does sound pretty good and decent pricing at $16xx. The 1700 sound nice too but at the same price range i would go for the Marantz.

 

Btw only the 2700 can pass only through (upscale only 1080i) 1080p.

I think if it is mainly HT you are after, then the 1700 is the one, otherwise if music is what you are after, then the 7001 or the 8001

I will strike off Denon 2807 @ ~ $1390. Cambridge Audio 640R looks interesting though. Going to give a listen.
