Hi Desray, Congratulations Bro.  Very nice review with clear pictures.  Fook Lai and I should be able to experience this wonderful joy in a few days time.  Bro, can you tell us which shop in Sim Lim you bought the converter from.

Best Regards, Tony

Very good review desray.  Couple of Q's....did you boost the sub vol in the 3806 by +15 db to compensate for the LFE issue?  Also, did you notice any audio sync issues, in other words did you have to adjust (increase) the audio delay in the 3806 or is it set to flat?

I like the step down transformer you bought, does it run hot?  Mine is an older model and I worried it's running too hot.

There's no issue HDMI Audio I believed. I dun experience any need for adjusting the LFE. I think you're referring to the Analog 5.1 Channels. And yes, this is a known audio issue. But I thought some forumer mentioned that it has been resolved with v1.5. I can't confirm that as I'm not using Analog in this case.

And No, I dun experience any lip-sync issue as well.

The Transformer run quietly and nope it does not get hot easily - warm is the correct word to use if I may and I operate under air-condition room. :) Hope it helps.

desray what about SD scaling between the Denon 3930CI and XA2?

Did you notice any difference?

Will check it out tonite :)

I think to make my review on XA2 abit more 'wholesome' and complete. I will most probably come up with a 2nd part of the review to touch on the SD DVD playback portion and comparison between the playback quality between my DENON 3930 and XA2.

Do watch out for it this week... :)

Hey Des, now that you have it, do you think I can hand carry it?

I saw the picture, it looks pretty big....

Its quite heavy IMO. If you're a medium-built guy, maybe you can still hand-carry it...but its gonna be very cumbersome and you may get tired after some distance walking. In short, better get the unit to be delivered by means of vehicular transport. For hand-carry, short distance is okay.

Thanks, I will try and carry it - bought too much :)

Nice review, hope a hack comes up soon, the video chip is very exciting.

IMHO it is better to carry it than let the airline operator to handle the XA2, god know they will handle it gentlely. Yes, a hack to become region free would be nice  ;D

Seems like if we want to be able to play every kind of format and all regions, we would need 1 HD DVD player, 1 blue ray player and 1 region free SD DVD player, ie 3 in total, unless there is HD cum blue ray player.

Quite a pain le.

That is why...alot of members here need a separate HDMI Switcher to cater to so many Players at home. :P

Congrats Desray on the Toshiba, thanks for the review, nice pictures too.

hey, you now have a very similar setup to Doggie Howser, HC5000 with HD-XA2  ;D

BTW, I have been playing my CDs using the XA2 as a CD transport and with a Xindak DC 01 coaxial cable, its pretty good right out of the box.

Might upgrade the power cable later on as well.
