cracker Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 What do u guys think of the above ? To me,,a sports reporter, or whatever they are called locally, should be non-partizan... First of all, from their tones, u can tell which team/s they dont like... Yesterday,,,was doing radio station surfing..and came across "on the ball" or sth like on Power 98..and those 2 guys just CMI from a sports journalist point of view... One of them "complained"....I cant take it if MU is to beat MC on Saturday....making some irritating sound.....after a while,,,add on ..it is no good for the premiership... If it was his fav team, he would say their team won the title with games to spare... This morning,,tuned to the Sports Programe on news938 at 11 am which I thought was one of the better local sports reporting.... The guys was laughing when talking abt MU lost and cheering whenever Liverpool was mentioned.. and when the listeners called in,,,the same things happened. It is OK to support a certain team...but they should be more objective when they are on national radio. ...else the difference between these :"reporters" and those in HWZ,,, is the latter can only share their views on the nets...while the former can use national radio to voice their opinion.... very low quality and sub standard reporting.. For the record,,,I had been following MU since the late 70s and have seen the high and low...and have also seen Liverpool's fortune in the same manner....My fav Liverpool side has to be those from 78 to 86..... All the best to Liverpool on 23rd May.
game_goondu Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 who tune to local radio station for sport news ??? ??? ???
cracker Posted May 5, 2007 Author Posted May 5, 2007 who tune to local radio station for sport news ??? ??? ??? during working days..will listen to BBC..but on weekend will be local stations...then their news is via BBC too...but it is read out according to their bias views...with lots of add lips..
lewlian Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Biasness notwithstanding, i often cringe at Brian Richmond's commentary. His son Mark is no better. They should stick to their day job of being DJs. Football commentators should do their homework, fill in boring stretches of the match with some interesting anecdotes or interesting factoids. Good examples being those EPL commentators... can't recall their names of the top of my head.

For epl commentators....the best one is Martin Tyler....but my fav are those from BBC...esp Alan Greene !!!
lewlian Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 yeah yeah...Martin is not bad. not talking about biasness from the Richmonds...more on football knowledge... could recall one instance when they said a striker's shot struck a post on radio...later when i watched the match on tv later, it was the cross-bar...quite different parts of a goalpost! but generally don't come across well if you know what i mean.

I don't disagree the Richmonds should not commentate, but I don't much think they should DJ either, or at least Mark shouldn't. His patter is so inane it is basically mindless.

zamus_aran Posted May 8, 2007 Posted May 8, 2007 You should be thankful he's spared us his acting ;D Ugh....that overacting stint in Triple Nine.....best be forgotten for good.
yellowhandman Posted May 14, 2007 Posted May 14, 2007 i once heard a genius on local radio declaring that fernando alonso had topped the timesheets with a lap time of ONE HOUR AND TWENTY SECONDS. was alonso PUSHING his car?
