petetherock Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 I was watching this for a while, hoping the Walmart consortium floods the market with cheap HD DVDs (they had promised 2 million) but it looks like a dud :( http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,1895,2122715,00.asp "A spokesperson for the company said Thursday that reported leak concerning Taiwan-based consumer electronics manufacturer, Fuh Yuan, partnering with TDK in China to manufacture the $250-299 players, had no merit. The report first appeared in AVS Forums, and was picked up by other Web sites. "
deepakvali Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 been in n out of WALMART past few days, did not see any good buy HD-DVD players though voltage is 110V.
c7221624705751 Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 This is kjack of Sigma Designs indirectly rebutting that article. Being such an insider, I trust kjack's hints. ################ First, I can't comprehend why journalists can't pick up a phone and call to verify something before reporting on or following up on a story. Doesn't cost that much to call Taiwan these days. Are for example the timelines reasonable and probable? I feel more comfortable with the purpoted October date. August seems a little quick to me. Takes time to get all the licensing done and all that stuff. There also has to be pre-production runs to get kinks out of the assembly process, etc. __________________ Keith Jack Director Product Marketing Sigma Designs BD and HD-DVD decoder supplier
