AP Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi to all, What would be a good centre speaker to recommend if I have a budget of $600. Thanks. Heard about the Mirage OM series, are they good for the money? Thanks in advance. AP
Yubaba Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi It is better for you to get L,R,C speakers from the same manufacturer. It is mean for timbre matching
AP Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Yubaba, Thanks for such a quick response. Am using SF Grand Piano at the moment and using 1 side denon monoblock to drive the centre. Thought of upgrading the centre to max the amp that I am using to drive. Thanks.
petetherock Posted April 26, 2007 Posted April 26, 2007 Hi Bro You are using a SF Grand Piano as a centre and you want to spend $600 to beat that? What did you do with the other SF of the pair anyway? Not really possible even the most generous 2nd hand deal is not going to net you that great a deal. Beside I assume your other speakers are also SF, which means you are better of sticking to that. Its a basic rule of thumb, use the same brand, and better still same series as the rest of your setup. A Mirage is going to be like pairing a Hokkien speaking thing with a Cantonese setup :) Quite different ;) Yubaba, Thanks for such a quick response. AP Posted April 26, 2007 Author Posted April 26, 2007 Petetherock, Thousand appolgies. The pair's being used as the L & R speaker, not as centre. Am using a very old RBH as centre. Igs
DisplayX Posted April 27, 2007 Posted April 27, 2007 Hi to all, What would be a good centre speaker to recommend if I have a budget of $600. Thanks. Heard about the Mirage OM series, are they good for the money? Thanks in advance. AP I'm using the MIRAGE OM C2 OM r2 and OM9 and I can tell U that the Center is simply the best although a bit pricey... and just a note the OM C2 is no normal hokkien joe and beats many a center with clearity with bass without much effort... Don't noe the current price but used to cost about $1000 odd or there abouts... U should be able to get it at about $600 on the used market ... but not always available though...Good Luck .

Igs Hi AP, maybe you can consider a used piece of SF solo home centre spkr. Might be able to get one at your budget .... or maybe slightly more. As Yubaba pointed out ....matching timbre.
AP Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 Thanks for all your replies. Will consider carefully, and kind of interested in the Mirage OM C2 centre. But its hardly in the market.
