Guest francis woo Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 They are also selling the CD3000T for US$1,595.00. The price of HK$6,000.00 in Hong Kong makes it very attractive and worthwhile. I will get it on saturday there on my way home.

Guest francis woo Posted May 2, 2007 Posted May 2, 2007 Probably. I will be going to Shenzhen next week. Will check out all the Shanling products and pricing there. Stay tuned.
Guest francis woo Posted May 11, 2007 Posted May 11, 2007 Bros, time to go to Shenzhen. I tested the MC-3 at Kason Ltd a shop dealing in Shanling products at Huaqiang Bei Rd, Futian for an hour hooked to an AE monitor speaker and was really impressed. Athough not as spacious and deep sounding compared to the CD300, it certainly was very listenable and the imaging was really good for this little gem. I bargained the price down to rmb5,000.00 from rmb5,800.00 and they packed it nicely for me but when I presented my Visa for payment, they said they don't accept international credit card. It was a let down and I was really disappointed that I was not able to take it away. A lesson learned. BTW, the CD300 is going for rmb5,600.00, much cheaper here than in Hong Kong.
Heng Posted July 12, 2007 Posted July 12, 2007 Hi guys, i just found out the MC-3 is now available at Larry Hifi at around $1000!!! With the MC-3's tiny output wattage, do you think it can drive the Pioneer Pure Malt speakers (rated at 100W at 6Ohms with a sensitivity of 84db)? I read a local Pure Malt review previously where the 3.5W Sun Audio SV-2A3 & the 18W Almarro A318B are both recommended. So I wonder if the MC-3 & Pure Malt will sound good together for vocals & light music? They sure look cool as a bedroom setup. Any advice? I really dunno much about matching tube gear... :P
hifiluv Posted July 12, 2007 Author Posted July 12, 2007 best to bring the Pioneer down to hookup and see if u like the sound, they are quite portable...u some CDs u are familiar with to see if there is any "improvements". :)

hifiluv Posted July 13, 2007 Author Posted July 13, 2007 oic, in tis case, i recommend u the Ursher 520, $380 for non piano finish, tis baby rocks man and its not too big, thus will match the MC3 nicely. :)
kwhv Posted July 13, 2007 Posted July 13, 2007 Hmm.... I'm not sure if the MC-3 have enough juice to drive the S520. One 6P1 single-ended output per channel, you looking at less than 8 watts/channel?

A website stated the MC-3 spec is 2 x 3W only. Yet I mentioned above the 2A3 tube can drive the Pure Malt with low power output at 3.5W... Really mind-boggling to me... :P

Really mind-boggling to me... :P You can't compare watt for watt. Amplifier with the same power output can have different drive capability. Just like cars, Two cars with the same fuel capacity can have different horsepower and those with the same horsepower can have different torque. Circuit designs and quality of components used in amplfier plays important part too. For tube amplifiers, the quality of output transformers are also very inportant.
