P bedok north blk 85 food market - 'bak cho mee' only starts in the evening kallang airport food centre - 'blanco court' kuay chap
tinytok Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Mee Pok named "Jalan Tua Kong Lao Lim" near Zenn Audio at bedok. There's 2 there, but i think the original one is the one with 2 shop front, 1 selling toast and kopi and the other for cooking meepok.
Ong Hai Peng Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 Must try the one at the 5th floor food court at Amara Shopping Centre in Tanjong Pagar. The handmade fishballs are big, fresh and bouncy. The noodles are cooked to perfection. With the red hot chili they taste heavenly. ;)
SiriuslyCold Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 you should check out LSD's blog linked in this thread Small potatoes...
scoobydoo Posted April 19, 2007 Posted April 19, 2007 In my opinion, the best kuay chap is at the bedok interchange hawker centre. It is only open in the mornings till about 12pm if i am not wrong.

petetherock Posted April 21, 2007 Author Posted April 21, 2007 Friends I am truly grateful for all the info on food, it makes me really famished and I hope to meet and catch up with some of you over a nice bowl of mee-pok BTW I also know one in Jurong, when I was around it was in an old dingy hawker centre near the Tang city, but this hakwer centre has been demolished and I believe the stall has moved to the fourth floor of a new building nearby??
htfreak Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 If you want the original famous Blanco Court kwap chap, that hunched back old man is now located at newly renovated Serangoon Gardens market. Not Chomp Chomp hah.. Actually they have a branch at Vivo City's Republic Food Plaza but somehow it does not taste as good as the original.
petetherock Posted April 22, 2007 Author Posted April 22, 2007 Serangoon garden market, is that behind the police station? Thanks PS: anyone know the mee pok in Jurong, lots of nostalgia...
htfreak Posted April 22, 2007 Posted April 22, 2007 Not sure about the police station but it's opposite the post office (provided it's still there). Haven't been there for a few years already.

HougangKid Posted April 24, 2007 Posted April 24, 2007 Kway Chup - Junction of Geylang Lor 37 & Geylang Rd Can't remember the name of the place, but the entire coffeeshop just sell kway chup. I think it's the Thai-Style kway chup. The owner used to ran a stall in Suntec. I brought all my friends there, and they all like it. The Ter Kar is not bad as well. Close at 11pm. Not that crowded as it is away from the business end of Geylang.

YANG Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Don't know leh...maybe you need to check with Mr.Brown loh...hopefully he won't recommend you to the towkay who plays punk with customers lah... Okay lah...enough for the joke... I live near bendemeer, if you ask around, there's this mushroom minced pork noodle store @ bendemeer foods center that serves great tasting deal. Choose btwn $2 or $3(for extra ingredients) for your order. Soup or dry available. It's @ the corner of the food center, close to carpark. Go try out!
hw Posted June 1, 2007 Posted June 1, 2007 Hey YANG, Is that the one where they use deep fried wanton, and scoop the mushrooms from a claypot? If that's the one, I certainly agree it's one of the best mushroom/minced pork noodles! I've been eating that since I was a kid :) But not in recent years though :(
