desray Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 What are the titles for this year that you will really like to see in the upcoming release? ;D Chances are, I will not be the 'Director' for this Part 2. Anyone wanna take up the Directorship for this sequel? Let me know. Just a suggestion, perhaps this time round, we can have different categories suggested by a few members last time. Categories will likely to include the following: 1) Animation - Best 2 titles 2) Sci-Fi - Best 2 titles 3) Thriller - Best 2 titles 4) War time - Best 2 titles 5) Horror - Best 2 titles 6) Action - Best 2 titles List of titles that you hoped to see in this release. Feel free to add as many titles as you want. This list will be maintained throughout the year.
petetherock Posted April 7, 2007 Posted April 7, 2007 Sci fi - Serenity / Firefly Animation - Cars Action - Superman Returns Kungfu - Banquet - fight scene in the beginning at the actor retreat (v rich colors) Just my 2c worth. (I can provide the discs if needed)
SiriuslyCold Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 OK, I can attempt to put together the disc #2 if everyone can contribute clips I'll open a FTP for upload, and every clip must be accompanied by a note stating why it's been nominated (this could be a txt file uploaded or email to me) desray - a couple of Q's to draw on your experience :) what was the authoring software you used? how big were the individual clips? how many clips can fit in a D5? If anyone is interested in contributing a clip, email me for the FTP password later
desray Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 OK, I can attempt to put together the disc #2 if everyone can contribute clips I'll open a FTP for upload, and every clip must be accompanied by a note stating why it's been nominated (this could be a txt file uploaded or email to me) desray - a couple of Q's to draw on your experience :) what was the authoring software you used? how big were the individual clips? how many clips can fit in a D5? If anyone is interested in contributing a clip, email me for the FTP password later The moment I read that you are willing to take the director's chair this time round...I felt very happy! :D As I know that Demo Disc 2 will be a great one to watch out for! ;D To answer some of your queries... 1) I used Mediachance DVDLab Pro as the Authoring software (Shareware) 2) This is entirely up to you bro! Rule of thumb, try to include as many clips from different movies as possible. This will spice up the intrinsic worth of this 2nd instalment! For instance, make it 2 clips per category as listed above. 3) Ditto. Guys I truly hoped that everyone can contribute to this 2nd instalment. Not everyone will have a vast collection of the titles which are really great for HT Demo purpose...so if you happen to have a title that everyone wants. Then do us a favor by ripping that scene and upload to share with us. Although I will refrain from touching on the technical part of authoring and compiling the Disc, I am willing to contribute a few clips to make it to the Disc. Brother SiriuslyCold, do you have any experience with DVD Authoring s/w?
SiriuslyCold Posted April 9, 2007 Posted April 9, 2007 let me rephrase #2 in terms of file size (MB) how big was each clip?
desray Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 Average out approx. 220MB - 250MB. Some longer, some shorter...
desray Posted April 9, 2007 Author Posted April 9, 2007 Any professional animation designer here can contribute to the background transition or effect for the Demo Disc?
petetherock Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Hi SC, I sent u a pm about contributing to the disc, cheers P
desray Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Sci fi - Serenity / Firefly Animation - Cars Action - Superman Returns Kungfu - Banquet - fight scene in the beginning at the actor retreat (v rich colors) Just my 2c worth. (I can provide the discs if needed) Hi Pete, thanks for the contribution. I wonder if you have a copy of the currently circulating Demo Disc? May I suggest to provide a different title or perhaps a different scene of a particular movie which was already found in the present Demo Disc...this is to eliminate any chance of the same scene been ripped again for this 2nd instalment. Maybe Cars (Pixar Animation) seems to be a new title worth adding into the Disc. ;)
petetherock Posted April 10, 2007 Posted April 10, 2007 Happy to help, I am no good at authoring, but I have lots of discs. Actually discs are pretty cheap in Oz, eg Fight Club for Aus 8.83, so if you or SC want a scene from a movie, I can buy it too. I have most action movies in my colection but if you want something different, let me know. I have anime too, eg Ghost in the Shell? Other suggestions (which I can provide discs) - Bad Boys II - car chase scene - Casino Royale - Bond chasing man who does Jackie Chan stunts (I am getting a Blu-ray disc soon too if that helps at all) -Happy Feet (also getting HD combo disc soon) -concert -- Anthony Wong's concert demo on DTS demo disc from HKG (good drum sequence and qin for treble)
desray Posted April 10, 2007 Author Posted April 10, 2007 Dun worry about the authoring portion. Leave it to Bro SiriuslyCold in this case. All you need to do is to rip the scenes and upload it to the SiriuslyCold's designated FTP Server. Use DVD Shrink (freeware) to rip the desired scene from the movie and then upload it. Simple as that. Do remember to provide a brief description on your choice of the scene though. Here's the link to a short step by step guide on how to rip a scene from your DVD using a DVDSHrink. :) http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=40325.0 - Scroll down the middle segment for the guide. ;)
SiriuslyCold Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 does DVShrink also take the corresponding audio trax (DD or DTS?)
desray Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 does DVShrink also take the corresponding audio trax (DD or DTS?) Yes it does, bro. ;)
SiriuslyCold Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 ah cool. I'm hoping that most contributions are going to be in the form of clips though - i don't have that many "reference" DVDs the ones I keep are of the movies I love desray perhaps you can list down the clips that are already on XP Demo Disc #1 instead of having to refer to the disc
desray Posted April 11, 2007 Author Posted April 11, 2007 Good idea...here are the titles already present in Demo Disc 1 ;D
desray Posted April 16, 2007 Author Posted April 16, 2007 For those who wish to contribute clips to this Demo Disc 2. You can PM SiriuslyCold for the FTP account details. If you have any technical difficulties in ripping the scenes. Post here and we will help you. ;)

Strike off No. 3 & 4 as its an old title and the proposed scene from Superman Returns already in the HT Demo Disc 1. So we'll be looking forward for your clips to be uploaded to SiriuslyCold's FTP account then ;D Thanks!
desray Posted April 30, 2007 Author Posted April 30, 2007 Guys...do take note that we only accept Original DVD snippets from Original titles. This is to ensure optimum Picture and Sound Quality for everyone. Thanks for understanding. ;)
desray Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 I will take charge of the Design department. Bro SiriuslyCold, are you going to use the same DVD Authoring software that I will be using (i.e. DVDLab Pro)? I hope the answer is yes. You will do the compilation, afterwhich you will pass me the whole library and I will add in the Design. We will still stick to a D5 (i.e. 4.7GB) compilation for this Part 2. Titles that confirm will go into this sequel will include: 1. Casino Royale 2. Spiderman 3 (TBA - probably in Oct-Nov this year) 3. Flyboys 4. 300 (TBA) 5. Ghost Rider (TBA - probably in Jun-Jul this year) The above list will be updated from time to time...if the PQ and SQ fall short of expectation - it will be *removed* and replace by other titles. :) Tentatively these are the confirmed titles to be included.
DJQ Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 for the war series i would like to suggest flag of our fathers or letters of Iwo Jima. the part where the american troops land on shore till the japs open fire. sorry i do not hav the DVDs much less the knowledge to rip the snippet. anyone with the DVD can contribute? ::)
desray Posted May 4, 2007 Author Posted May 4, 2007 Thanks DJQ for the suggestion on the war genre. Will look into it.
petetherock Posted May 4, 2007 Posted May 4, 2007 I have Flags if someone can rip it. But was there a big explosion or surround scene?
Guest wahlao1 Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 Hi, for the war genre, how about "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" ? There is a scene where 2 boats firing at each other and crew running around ? The foot steps from the crew running around has the effect of sound coming from the ceiling ! Anyone tried it ? Cheers,
petetherock Posted May 5, 2007 Posted May 5, 2007 M & C was used in a few older demo discs, I can predict bro desray's reply :) Hi, for the war genre, how about "Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World" ?
