HTidiot Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Thinking of changing my centre speaker...any good recommendation from you guys ...second hand ...budget $200 ;D
petetherock Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 Key word bro, tonal matching. If you want opinions, best to give as much info as possible. Your setup, SQ preference and rooms for starters. P
Genesis Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 agree with ptr, but only $200? Keep in mind that for good HT the center channel is extremely important, I wouldn't skimp here
mcmaranello Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 important but have low 2nd hand value, don't know why ???
petetherock Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 For $100 JBL control 1 - single up to Spendor Centre 1.5k ... so what, if neither sound like your current L & R speaker, it will sound like a different beast and the integration will be poor. The idea is to create a smooth wall of sound where the speakers are invisible nad the panning from left to right is seamless.
HTidiot Posted April 6, 2007 Author Posted April 6, 2007 quite difficult to match with my L/R speaker , it is a vintage FR driver ;D . Thinking of getting a KEF 90C ... will consider other cetre speaker too if you have something to recommand or sell I know centre is important in a HT but i Bo money leh ..
petetherock Posted April 6, 2007 Posted April 6, 2007 KEF concentric drives have a unqiue sonic signature, do audition a few before you get one. Also the KEF 90c is not that new, and has only one woofer, its not so great if you are into blasting. I had the KEF 100c reference. Its quite warm and I used it with TDLs and Dynaudios for a while
