Norman_Chan Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Just curious to know ...are there any other banks which charge a service charge of S$5 when you pay your credit card bill directly at the bank teller counter ?
silencer13 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 wow, which bank does that? I pay my Citibank bills at the AXS machines, no extra charges for that.
leo2003 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 Just curious to know ...are there any other banks which charge a service charge of S$5 when you pay your credit card bill directly at the bank teller counter ? SCB charge a service fee cant remember how much reason for doing that is encourage more ppl to use the atm machine to pay bill Service charge is waived if u pay in big notes wjich the machine cant accept.
xiao_vin Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 usually credit card will be interest-free for 30days, after that 24%pa will be charged
Quest88 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 he's talking about paying a service fee for paying at counter, not interest charges. that's very rare. actually never heard of it for credit cards before, although those online accounts like SC B's esaver and maybank's isavvy got such charges attached.
Norman_Chan Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 Bingo !!! Yes ...it is SCB ....all along was paying by cheque till this month was too busy and almost forgotten to drop in the cheque on the last day ...also SCB receive the cheque on that day does not mean you make the payment ....it is when the cheque clear than that day consider payment of your account. I do not know about this service charge thing until I reach the counter and Q for half hour, when the teller told me I was shock and say that I Q to do payment and not change or deposite coins and still need pay service charge ...what kind of rules is this ...than she flash me the notice that this was implemented in 2005 and told me I can go to the auto payment machine to make payment and save the S$5 service charge ...I took a look at the auto-payment machine and there were at least 10 people Q ...since rushing for time to go back office I paid the service charge. Think of it like day time robbery ....even you have less money in your saving account ...mostly the bank will charge you S$2 as service charge but S$5 !!!
Norman_Chan Posted April 3, 2007 Author Posted April 3, 2007 So I ask the teller ...that if I do payment at the auto-payment machine ...do I get S$5 credit instead ? Reason is teller counter discourage credit card payment by indirectly fine (term as service charge) the customer S$5 ...so the bank should do the reverse and reward customer when they start to use the auto-payment machine ....
Quest88 Posted April 3, 2007 Posted April 3, 2007 norman, i think thats too open for abuse. :P for example i owe the bank $1000, i could split it up into 100 payments of $10. then each time get $5 benefit? :P even if there is limitation of amount, i can always pay $1000, withdraw $1000, rinse and repeat. the most convenient credit cards payments are via CDM, AXS, and online banking. CDM is immediate but you have to round up to nearest $10 cos of acceptance of notes. AXS is received the next day by the bank (there is a cut-off time though). Online banking is immediate if the same bank, else its the longest.
silencer13 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Do they accept AXS payments? If they do it would be more convenient for you since Citibank has installed so many AXS stations in Singapore recently.
Quest88 Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 CDM = Cash deposite machine ? yes. :) as to AXS, also, yea. i think they have one AXS at almost every MRT station and numerous petrol kiosks nowadays.
sonofdbn Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 The irony is that most financial institutions would love to have a chance to see their customers in person and see what else they might be able to rip them off for sell them. Why spend money doing telemarketing, mass SMS and mailings and then discourage customers from, God forbid, talking to one of your staff?
