f_spider Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 At our local National Basketball League, there was a big brawl between our protectors - Home United & our soldiers - SAFSA............. But unfortunately , SAFSA was penalised by being disqualified & demoted to d lower leagues..... From wat i heard from d SAFSA side, its d Home Utd players who started it all :-\
scoobydoo Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 They are supposed to be a disciplined uniform force yet they can do this? What a disgrace! tsk tsk... I think they must have too much time on hand....
braveheart1624705820 Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 It seems brawling during a match is in vogue...look at the EPL, Italian League, NBA.... ;D
zamus_aran Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 They seem to have taken the term 'fighting spirit' in their sports too literally.
f_spider Posted March 28, 2007 Author Posted March 28, 2007 Watz ironic is dat 1 as supposed to FIGHT CRIME , while d other FIGHT WAR...... But since there was none.......... They decided to FIGHT each other instead ;D

They decided to FIGHT each other instead ;D LOL...ya u r rite.....too much pent up energy & "fighting spirit". How i hope our national football team have such fighting spirit...most of the time they are interested only in "how to look good" or "how look like EPL players". ;D
f_spider Posted March 29, 2007 Author Posted March 29, 2007 Its been confirmed......... I juz had lunch today wif a SAFSA official ( whose name goes by d letter PC)....... Its d Home Utd hoolligans that started d fight :(
Chowbotak Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 If I ever get cautioned by the police for hooliganism at the stadium, I'll remind them of this incident ;D
SiriuslyCold Posted April 11, 2007 Posted April 11, 2007 oh, sure... I bet you'll get leniency and preferential treatment from them after that
desray Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 Guys, there are 'more than meets the eyes' on what actually happened during that game. Home United is a Club and operate as a separate entity by itself now. The team members consists alot of civilians as well...not just Police. There's a mix from all walks of lives...Please do not associate Home United as a team make up of the law enforcers. This is a game and Basketball is a close-contact physical game...You and me are not there at the game, just by hearsay from one side of the story does not do justice to Home United. If you have any unfavorable comments on the players or the games - please stick just to the GAME alone and not implicate the law enforcement body into the picture. I urged everyone to be tactful on the choice of words.
scoobydoo Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 ... The team members consists alot of civilians as well...not just Police. desray Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Which then confirms that there are police in the team. :o First of all, I really dun get it...why are you so *surprised* in the first place that they are uniformed officers in the team? Home United is pretty much the same as its counterpart in the S-League called Home United as well...Anyway the point here is Home United is not entirely make up of ALL Police officers, that's what I am trying to put across...look at it as a team vying a place in the competition and nothing more. If you really really want to get the first hand encounter from some of the supporters **present** at that game...I suggest you visit our HUBC forum for more details. http://www.hubc.org.sg/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=97&PN=1 In my opinion, all parties involved in that game have a fair share of blame...Officials (i.e. referees) did not take decisive actions during the game prior to the big brawl...If you speak of mannerisms and the uphold of the office colors - SAFSA coach is a Commando in SAF, he got suspended and the team relegated to Division II next year in the NBL...if he have acted rational and not be seen as 'leading' the rest of SAFSA players on the bench to join in the fight...SAFSA will not have been suspended in this year's NBL. Of course, I am not siding with Home United boys here...the HU boys could have rushed in to 'stop' the brawl by pulling the guys away...I can only imagine a state of pandemonium and everyone loses his cool in that game. IMO both teams should be penalized and also the officials definitely have to be blamed as well for not managing the incident properly and professionally! Take note, 2 of HUBC's players have been penalized for their actions as well...its not the entire HUBC go unpunished for their actions.
scoobydoo Posted April 15, 2007 Posted April 15, 2007 Desray In your previous post, one of your 'defence' for this brawl is that not the whole team is made up of police officers, seemingly to say that this makes the home united team less culpable. ...... In my opinion, all parties involved in that game have a fair share of blame...Officials (i.e. referees) did not take decisive actions during the game prior to the big brawl...If you speak of mannerisms and the uphold of the office colors - SAFSA coach is a Commando in SAF, he got suspended and the team relegated to Division II next year in the NBL...if he have acted rational and not be seen as 'leading' the rest of SAFSA players on the bench to join in the fight...SAFSA will not have been suspended in this year's NBL. I believe you mentioned that you were not at the game so I am not sure how you can come to the conclusion that the officials did NOT manage the incident properly and professionally. Even if this is the case, does this justify the actions by both the teams? So it is now okay for such incidents to happen regularly as long as the players deem the officials to be unable to take decisive actions? I think we should remember that these 2 teams are made of trained uniformed professionals thus their level of conduct, in my opinion, should be of a higher standard. The safety and policing of Singapore is in their hands.

Hi Scoobydoo, I agreed with you on your last statement that both teams should not lose their heads in a game and display of high sportsmanship is the key for all the subsequent games to come in this year's NBL and the next to come. Period. That's all I need you to know.
