petetherock Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 Rebecca Pidgeon usually gets a mention, Spanish Harlem, the whole Ultimate Demo disk by Chesky is quite nice. Jennifer Warne's Hunter is also a typical mention 島唄 by 夏川りみ is one of my fav, she sings songs which Chinese singers made famous, eg Fish Leong, bu better 蘇芮 has a fantastic voice which will test your system - 酒矸倘賣嘸
vink Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Salena Jones - Bridge Over Troubled Waters / You've Got A Friend Amanda McBroom - Ship In a Bottle

benzx Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Bros, If I still remember my jap lessons, 夏川りみ should read Natsukawa Rimi. I googled the name and there's such a singer. Should be same person la. hehe
petetherock Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 So desu ne! Note that song was from her first CD, a crystal clear voice Track 1 in that cd is also pretty god - made me buy the CD - her own song in fact
f_spider Posted March 29, 2007 Posted March 29, 2007 Mee Siam Mai hum ........ mai hum , mai hum ;D Juz kidding bro ;D My fav vocal test disc song wen i go for auditions - Dave True Story's MARISSA ;)
hifiluv Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Enya is also quite good as the mastering very much focus on her voice, i can listen endlessly to her albums, esp on tube setup, tho they are not audiophile quality. :)
petetherock Posted March 30, 2007 Posted March 30, 2007 Natsukawa Rimi - Nada Sousou was well recieved, but doesn't it sound like a local singer's song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt7oSDNXDhE
maxngck Posted March 30, 2007 Author Posted March 30, 2007 hi! found 费翔-白老汇 (Broadway). this album oso not bad. ;D
ckng Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Natsukawa Rimi - Nada Sousou was well recieved, but doesn't it sound like a local singer's song? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Tt7oSDNXDhE Yeah, isn't this 陪我看日出 by local singer 蔡淳佳 ? Regards CK
petetherock Posted March 31, 2007 Posted March 31, 2007 Yep, but the Japanese lady does it better IMO :) Try the first song from the same album, very stirring. Track 安里屋ユンタ, album てぃだ ~太陽・風ぬ想い~
maxngck Posted April 1, 2007 Author Posted April 1, 2007 i! anyone tried Andrea Bocelli - Amore album? this also not bad. nice ;D
IwishIwasToneDeaf Posted April 1, 2007 Posted April 1, 2007 i! anyone tried Andrea Bocelli - Amore album? this also not bad. nice ;D Yeah Amore is good. Especially the track with Christina Aguilera.
2100 Posted April 2, 2007 Posted April 2, 2007 I am sure most people know how well Teresa Teng sings. Try Teresa Teng Concert Live, available at Roxy. $28. Really super nice Jap pressing.
kenteowk Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 Just did an all round upgrade to my system and sampling all my fav cds. Found this thread lovely for vocals - Kit Chan's "Yuan2 lai2 zhi3 yao4 wei4 ni2 huo2 yi4 tien1" in Xue3 Lang2 Hu2. Not your typical audiophile kind of track (e.g. Cai Qin lah, Rebecca Pidgeon lah), but for those who always enjoy canto pop and hope to hear good voice on good recording from a good system, this is for you. Canto version btw.

petetherock Posted April 4, 2007 Posted April 4, 2007 There is a Chinese PRC singer who sings well (IMO I prefer her to Teresa, but that's personal) Huang Hong Ying, from Shanghai I believe, she has some SACD DSD recordings too. I am sure most people know how well Teresa Teng sings. Try Teresa Teng Concert Live, available at Roxy. $28. Really super nice Jap pressing.
kenteowk Posted April 5, 2007 Posted April 5, 2007 hi! the kit chan's song quite nice. test it on my pc's speakers sound good. later go hm try on my yamaha c good anot ;D Glad you like it! There're a couple of other nice tracks too. But this track featuring Kit's solo vocal without music accompaniment really oozes with emotions. A system that reproduces emotions well will benefit a lot from this track. Really relaxing to close the eyes and just kick back and let her voice massage my tired mind at the end of the day.
kuryakin Posted April 8, 2007 Posted April 8, 2007 No one mentioned male vocals?? I like Billy Joel's Innocent Man track. Or Harry Connick Jr is you dig jazz vocals.
