Is Pioneer 427 at $3800 with (1+2) yrs warranty a good deal?  ???

Just before CNY, the lowest I've enquired was $3400, and that's with all the promo gifts at that time.  Now the price I've been quoted at Courts is $3699 (earlier this week), without the promo gifts.

 

I'm sure you can go below $3500 if you probe around.

If you can wait until Oct before the 428 is launched, I think that's usually is the best price. Price should definitely be below $3K by then.

I think that whatever advancements that the 428 will have will be incremental.  The 427 and 436 PQ are already class leading in many ways  :)

i happened to be itchy hand and bought a pioneer 436 over the weekend

at BD IM*.  :P

 

$2,799 and was told not display set but new one.

Heard from some folks that it is coming out in June, so possible there is a price reduction in the 7th generation series?  ???

if yes, maybe can consider 507 .. heheh.. if budget and my CFO (wife) permits..

Reading this thread makes me cry... I bought a 434 a few years ago and now the price is sooo low compared to what I paid...  :'(

But seriously, unless you're sitting really close (2m) or have a really small place, if you can manage it get the 507 -- I often wish I'd gone with the 50" instead of the 43", but back then the 50" was really ex.  Or if you can get a good deal, try getting the 436, which must be heavily discounted now being a generation back, and is an inch larger to boot.

That's a good price. Just got back from Harvey Norman Parkway... Salesperson told me it would cost $3799 + Hifi set and I think a cash voucher. DIdn't want to haggle so I left.

I agree if can afford, go for a 50" plasma. The size will disappear in few days time and u will feel it is no big deal......  ;D

Other than Harvey Norman, where else is a good place to get the plasma; although i admit that the HN expo offer was quite good.

 

One of my concern is actually the warranty. If we get from the neighbourhood wholesale shops, are we able to get the extended warranty?  ???

Got my 507XG display set for 4 days at $5,599 (all in inclusive GST) at IT 2007 in March but cannot get extended warranty as it is deemed a display set. Had been wondering if it was a set which had been left at Merdeka since the model was launched (Sep/Oct 06), but was comforted when I called Pioneer that the date on the warranty card is the date shipped to the dealer so mine was shipped in March 07. I last saw the price around $7,400-7,600 at Best Denki Vivo/Junction 8 so the price hasn't dropped much since I was shopping in Feb/Mar 2007.

but the 42" lah. I think the 42" price point is really good at during the last IT show $2k. One thing about display is the price drop super fast. Seriously, I am not sure about you but I get pretty irritated seeing the things I buy drop in value so fast, like my projector and plasma.

 

Things like speakers, amplifiers, projector screen all hold value pretty well.

 

If you want to spend money, spend on nice speakers lor.

 

BTW, the differance between 42" and 50" means for 50" if you sit at 3m, 42" you just sit at 2.5m .... I always feel that if you want size, projector is the way to go lor. 92" screen is really a big differance from the 42". Else not work spending 3k more on the 20% increment.
