Thanks! i had the same problem with a metal laptop, because the laptop came with different plugs for different countries, and i was using the two-prong one. when i switched to the three-prong plug, i stopped getting zapped by my laptop. so i suggest you just go and buy a three-prong power cable.
Doggie Howser Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 If you are tapping off a power point added later by yr contractor, you should check to see if they accidentally misconnected Earth/Neutral. Common enough mistake.

Common enough mistake. Misconnect Earth/Neutral? The contractor should lose his license if he can make such a basic mistake. maxngck, to solve your little electric shock, you can solve it by grounding your equipment. Just connect a wire to a part of the equipment to the ground pin of a 3 pin socket. :)
Doggie Howser Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Misconnect Earth/Neutral? The contractor should lose his license if he can make such a basic mistake. According to the folks from KEC, who had this diagnostic tool that plugs into a 3 pin outlet, it is supposed to happen pretty frequently..
hosm Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 It is very common for 2 pin power plug equipment to have this "leakage" you just need to connect a earth the equipment. For your case, one way is to connect the radio antenna from the equipment to the SCVbox radio antenna point. this will drain the leakage to earth.

Jason Yeo Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Or connect the body of yamaha to another equipment body (which has earth) using a cable ? On my Karaoke system , I connect every equipments(without earth) body together and one of it connect to a 3pin plug(without live and neutral) , then plug it into a spare socket ;D
maxngck Posted March 8, 2007 Author Posted March 8, 2007 Do try this, sometimes it does helps ( minimise the leakage ) tried this but seem cant work. still got shock :o sigh! think have to bring it down to the service centre and let them make nicex2 for me.
synthesis1624705793 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Buy a cheap plug and wire from your neighborhood shop. Connect the earth pin (green/yellow wire) to the body of the equipment that gives you shock. You can connect the wire to the screw at the back/side of your equipment. Make sure you do not connect the Live and Neutral pins (remove them if necessary) otherwise you may get more SHOCK! Oh, don't forget to plug it.. ;D The minor electrical shock should be gone.
f_spider Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Bro , as a temp measure , plug d 2 pin , into a 3 pin multiple plug adaptop, kow tim , it may juz work ;)

petetherock Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 This issue was recently discussed here; http://www.xtremeplace.com/yabbse/index.php?topic=43524.0 Earth a plug really works. An electrican can do it for you in 5 mins if you are not comfy with plugs.
rogersk8ter Posted March 10, 2007 Posted March 10, 2007 The best and safest method is to get a 3 pin plug and connect ur amp with a 3 core cable. This is also the approve method. The other method may not be very secure and problem may arise again. If u unable to do it, come to my workshop.

petetherock Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 No fancy trick Just read the thread, and follow bro synthesis contribution hi! this mean that need to open up the cover of the amp and change the wire to a 3 core wire rite? will this void the warrenty of the amp ???
