sgsparkplug Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 Hi all, need to move my existing wall mounted 50" JVC plasma TV to my new place which is just opposite and have called JVC and they quoted $200++. anyone have a simliar experience of moving flat panel TV? is the normal mover capable of removing the TV/brackets and re-installed in the new place? anyone have any contact for installation contractor? any advise or reference will be appreicated. Thank you. CHeers.
TYF Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 I've also recently moved. I have thot of engaging Pioneer or their appt vendor to move my 436 but eventually left it with the movers that I've engaged to move the rest of my stuff. Touch wood, everything was fine. As for the wall mount, I got my contractors to mount it at my new place before the move. I engaged the help of my friend to install it after the move. However, that was my exprience and I'm not saying it will always work. If $$$ is not an issue, then you should engage professional to move and install your priced possession.
yellowhandman Posted March 7, 2007 Posted March 7, 2007 i've been advised before to get the sole agent to arrange the move. makes sense. if your plasma is not bought recently, then it probably cost you a bomb, so why be stingy when it comes to protecting your investment? unless you secretly hope for a reason to buy a new one? ;D
Corona11 Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 Anyone CHANGE wall mounted plasma screen before, who to call? New agent or old agent? or both? The only thing holding me back for a new panel are these questions?
rahul Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I think a normal mover would be good/bad enough. I have watched the dealer/Pioneer people deliver my Pio 427. They take no special care apart from not dropping it. They opened the box from the bottom and pulled the TV upside down. Then put it with front facing down on the table to affix the mount on the back. All this when the instructions on the box clearly state that TV should be kept in vertical position at all times.
lewlian Posted March 8, 2007 Posted March 8, 2007 I used the movers when i shipped my wall mounted plasma from S'pore to Shanghai last yr. They were very professional in the packing and unpacking and I made strict requests to their management to ensure care was taken even though there was insurance. For mounting in China, they engaged an independent contractor to do it. Fortunately costs were all covered but for me it was peace of mind.
sgsparkplug Posted March 9, 2007 Author Posted March 9, 2007 Hi all, thanks for all the replies. think will have to make a tough decision, to be or not to be. maybe will try to get the installer for my new TV in my room to help out...will try. CHeers.
Jeremy1624705846 Posted March 11, 2007 Posted March 11, 2007 I think better get the brand agent to do the job. At least, no worry of problem. I believed if any problem, they will compensate for it ? By the way, $200, does it include mounting ?
sgsparkplug Posted March 12, 2007 Author Posted March 12, 2007 Hi Jeremy, They are charging on the hi $200 with dis-mounting, transport and mounting all in... CHeers
Jeremy1624705846 Posted March 12, 2007 Posted March 12, 2007 If budget is not a problem, I still advise to get back the brand agent. 50" is big. Hi Jeremy, They are charging on the hi $200 with dis-mounting, transport and mounting all in... CHeers
bloob Posted March 13, 2007 Posted March 13, 2007 $200 is about the price of moving a baby grand piano, and a 50" plasma display would cost about as much and just as delicate. About par I would say. Get the agent to walkthrough the process they will take to do the move and the protection they will use during the transport. Does the cost include any kind of damage/loss insurance during the move?
lobster1624705763 Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Want to move my Panasonic plasma. Called up Panasonic but they do not provide the service. Any other recommendations will be appreciated. Thank you. Cheers,
bloob Posted March 19, 2007 Posted March 19, 2007 Try calling the well-known moving companies and see if they provide such services. I would personally recommend Shalom Movers - excellent service, friendly, professional and careful staff, fully documented moving process, good packaging materials and generous, and really door to door services. Just another very satisfied customer :) Not the cheapest movers around, but fantastic, worry-free services.
TYF Posted March 21, 2007 Posted March 21, 2007 I think a normal mover would be good/bad enough. I have watched the dealer/Pioneer people deliver my Pio 427. OMG :o And you just stand there will w/o doing anything.
bloob Posted March 22, 2007 Posted March 22, 2007 Frankly, I would rather not get in the way and watch closely how the delivery people do their job, carrying, unpacking and installing the panel (or any items for the matter). Then when they try to do the final checks and get you to sign the delivery order, you calmly start to point out the faults and problems, and tell them to take it back and demand a new set. Damaged goods in transit and installation.... it is in your rights to demand a replacement and you don't have to sign the D.O. If you get in the way, they can claim that you interfered in the process and is partly your fault.
