I plunged in and was very please with the result so far. After finished watching HD KK, I felt the WOW effect was there but without a comparison, I can't tell how much. So I popped in KK dvd.

Holly shh, all along I thought my htpc plays dvds at a very acceptable pq. But my impression now is dvd is so soft and the contrast was just lacking...off to amazon liao...

btw my digital tuner card that uses powerdvd 7.0 is not working liao, anyone here knows what to do to get it back? Not that it matters but the recording in .ts function is really good. should be in 1080i with 5.1 sound some more...

Are you using PowerDVD Platinum? Have hooked the 360's HD-DVD up, but am resisting buying a player until they are cheaper or I can upgrade from PowerDVD 7.0, which I paid for. IMHO, its very hard to see the difference on a small PC screen, but when you put it on a 50+ inches, it is extremely noticeable.

I'm scared as well and am just taking small step at a time. Especially when we have priorities and commitments standing in the way…btw I am still using my 720p AE700  ;D

Yes Powerdvd Ultra. I am sure they will allow upgrade for pdvd 7.0 as from my cdkey they also indicate pdvd 7.0 deluxe as well.  ;)
