esc Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 hi wonder any good USB digital audio output device to recommend so i can output 5.1 signal to my AV amp either via coaxial or optical link what i mean is those USB thumb kinda device, as i don't need a sound card cheers
sonofdbn Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 If you haven't already, take a look at this thread. I don't think there's simple USB thumb-drive size type of device, but if you do find one, do let us know.
Quest88 Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 i think there is such a thing, just that i haven't seen one in singapore before. Something like this: http://www.usbgeek.com/prod_detail.php?prod_id=0317 can probably forget about sound quality though. :P locally, the smallest i've seen is the m-audio transit, but its still big in comparison.
Doggie Howser Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 I saw these in Fry's about a month ago. http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/audioadv/amigo/producthome.asp http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/audioadv/srm/producthome.asp http://www.turtlebeach.com/site/products/audioadv/micro/producthome.asp All have optical/coax output to AV amps, I believe. Looks small enough to me...
Doggie Howser Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 http://www.frys.com/ I was in US a month ago ;) I did buy one of Turtle Beach's 5.2 headphone system ;) (complete with XBox Live headset/mic attachment!!) Needs a stepdown transformer for the decoder/headphone amp tho.
Doggie Howser Posted February 28, 2007 Posted February 28, 2007 My bad... I didn't buy the Turtle Beach headphone in the end (cos it didn't have a DD decoder). Got this instead http://www.trittontechnologies.com/products/TRIGA600.html

There are similar devices in SLS, but from the looks and specs, I don't think they coaxial or optical out.
