Darthfunk Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Bro what did you use to support the frame to the wall?
stealth Posted February 24, 2007 Posted February 24, 2007 Bro what did you use to support the frame to the wall? I used 3M heavy duty (red color) double sided tape to support the frame. Cut them longer to have more grip. Don't cut into small pieces it wouldn't hold. Its been on the wall for the past 2 years + already.

I never thought of that when I'm trying to dyi the projector screen frame. May I know how heavy is your frame?

Hi meow, I think the weight of the frame should be around less than 5kg lah...Stick the 4 sides plus some on the centre part of the frame...but ur projector screen frame, why don't u use those interlock nut and screws from Homefix? Those that fix 1 side to the wall and the locking nut on ur wood frame side....hope i understand what ur going to diy... ;)

Another alternative which it's not bad idea too. But I don't wish to make any hole on the wall which I'm using it as a screen now. That's y I'm thinking of ways to hold the frame without drilling any hole. Hee hee... :P

meow1624705839 Posted February 25, 2007 Posted February 25, 2007 " rubber strips 10mm thick"... "Need the wood n rubber strips to "float" my ht rm floor" Hi bro Koma, Just out of curiosity, may I know what do you mean by "float" your ht rm floor with the rubber strips? I've been trying to figure out what you mean but just couldn't. ??? Can you please enlighten me? :P Thanks!

I've been trying to figure out what you mean but just couldn't. ??? Can you please enlighten me? :P Thanks! We would like to float our ht rm floor but mostly very difficult due to HDB low ceiling . What bro Koma doing is to try the best possible compromise . With rubber sheets lay on the floor(all round) , you can reduce vibration to floor and reduce noise level produce from the ground. Another layer of thick carpet covering it with absorb the first reflection and reduce floor noise further . If we really want to float the ht rm floor , at least need few inches lift up and have high density foams or fiberglass beneath.

Hmm... did any bro did the "floating"? Very cursious to see & feel what is effect. Guess must be very expensive to implement such work, right? :P

Guess must be very expensive to implement such work, right? :P I do not know who have float the floor before. Most of the just put a carpet to reduce(depends on the thickness of the carpet) first reflection and float the individual ht equipments. Limyu is using a rubber sheet first follow by a thick carpet . Result is good . Gideon is using very thick carpet , result is good too . When you step on the carpet and feel it is like moonwalker , it is best ;D Floating the flor can be expensive or resonable (depend on materials used and hopw big is your area). From what I observed, for Singapore HDB flat, a rubber sheets with thick carpet is good enough. Then float the speakers and the rest ht equipements individually to tune the sound since resting on different materials got different sound .

I've attended another valuable lesson from you liao. Thank you very much! How about you, bro? Did you "float" your ht rm? Wonder do I have the opportunity to drop by those "float" ht rm?

Wonder do I have the opportunity to drop by those "float" ht rm? No I did not becoz I improve my ht room bit by bit after setting everything inside. That time I start to do no one advise me :'( .But becoz of this, I learn bit by bit and become more ;D Also if we float the room(esp setting in a room) , we need to specially cut the door shorter so that we can open and close it or open it the other way round if you figure out when I mean.

Jason Yeo Posted February 26, 2007 Posted February 26, 2007 Hmm... experience gained in the hard makes a man more wiser, do you think so? ....But been thru a lot of wrong routes.........Unless one is really interested to explore more , it is really very time consuming to do bit by bit and transform and transform... Fun to play but when you know more, you will know the sad truth on building up a so called "perfect???" HT. Speaking of truth , bass will never get perfect even how much you spent . With every new calibration , you gain and lose something.

I do believe what you meant by "you gain and lose something", it is very difficult or almost impossible to strike a perfect but maybe as most of the bros always said: "a sweet spot", am I right to say that?

Even a sweet spot also cannot perfect . We can go 85% perfect on sweet spot at most , at least to my numerous tries .......

Bro Jason, Are you satisfy with your present setup now? Or should I say are you satisty if your setup is at 85%?
Jason Yeo Posted February 27, 2007 Posted February 27, 2007 Bro Jason, Are you satisfy with your present setup now? Or should I say are you satisty if your setup is at 85%? Quite satisfy now but will still play around with bass when no movie to watch ;D Need to make more mistake and learn .
