dethangel Posted February 21, 2007 Posted February 21, 2007 Currently i'm happy with my Adcom GTP-400. But recently purchased a DAB tuner ... so the tuner on the Adcom isn't getting used much and i'm contemplating on a preamp purchase. Browsing through some forums, i chanced upon an audiolab 8000c preamp ... but i'm not sure how old it is and how good it is compared to my adcom (some people find adcom very rough sounding) So i'm seeking advice from any audiolab users here. How's your audiolab sounding? Anything i should be looking / listening out for?
deepakvali Posted March 28, 2007 Posted March 28, 2007 personally dont own the 8000C but have owned 8000A since day 1, more then 10 years leow, amp is still kicking really well. sound wise for the price i paid back then, absolutely no complain, not to forget these are Made in UK ;) have not heard Adcom in performance before too but from all the reviews around, i think the Audiolab should beat the Adcom in control
DaddyCooL Posted April 12, 2007 Posted April 12, 2007 I used to own a 8000a integrated, do be careful on the matching for audiolab amps, as many reviews suggest, they are transparent to the point of clinical. Paired with my Epos ES11 the sound was just dead...absolutely lifeless, the details are there and everything but it just sounded absolutely boring to me.
