I've come across a distortion problem when playing the War of the Worlds scene from the demo disc. After the alien craft has erected itself it makes a loud bellowing sound as stuff is expelled from the bottom of the craft. This is right after Tom Cruise comes out from behind the building to have another look, while being told by his friends to stay and not go out.

I've changed the centre speaker, the amp, played from my computer and DVD palyer, as well as downmixing from the DVD player direct to my DAC to LR only (to remove the AVR). My conclusion, it's in the source.

Soooo, is this just with the copy of the demo disc that I got, in all copies of the demo disc, or is it actually in the movie itself?

Not that I'm aware of...anyway this scene has been ripped in its entirety w/o any post-mixing etc. :) It has to be from the source. How loud did you actually go bro?

That's the thing, not that loud at all. What I would call normal listening level.

I'll play it again tonight and measure with my sound pressure meter.

I've the original version of War Of The World. Its comfirmed from the distortion is from the original software. It could be due to their audio high level mixing.

If you have the original, try playing another scenes like when Tom Cruise is argueing with his son near the river stream when the army trucks passes them, the dialoge also distorted. :( :(

Yeap...tried it last night and there's some distortion. I thought that was intended by the Studio. :)

Intended? Why would a studio butcher a sound track to do that to a poor speaker?
