PeterSG Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Thanks to this site many years back. I bought a Shinco and it has lasted till now. It is still working except that the stupid eject mechanism isn't functioning well. When I press eject, it opens and closes. Then, depending on its mood, it might open again to let you load your disc. ??? :P Question is, now I need a replacement. Need the pros and bros here to give some sound advice. I saw a Panasonic S52 I think selling for $169 with free HDMI cable. Am currently using a 4:3 PanaTV. So is this a good choice? Divx playability is a must! :) Thanks and GONG XI FA CAI to one and all! Cheers to health and wealth! :)
petetherock Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Bro Choices are limited for that $$, can you use HDMI with your TV, or can the system you have discern any difference? Why not a) spend a bit more on say an Oppo, or b) stick to your budget, and find a player based on reliability and features. The Panny seems to be high on VFM vs a 400 plus Oppo, although the Oppo does SACD and DVDa Good luck bro :)
PeterSG Posted February 15, 2007 Author Posted February 15, 2007 Bro! I hope to future proof the player so that I can also use it when I get my 16:9 HD LCD :) I have lost touch since my Shinco days! Sorry, What is Oppo, VFM? I don't think I need SACD and DVDa, don't have any disc of such at the mo! Thanks! :) Bro Choices are limited for that $$, can you use HDMI with your TV, or can the system you have discern any difference? petetherock Posted February 15, 2007 Posted February 15, 2007 Oppo is the current craze, you can get a Oppo 970 for 299 at Bukit Timah, X audio if I am not wrong. High value for money (VFM) Has HDMI, SACD, DVDa etc and good reviews.
