basspundit Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Just something to share with you folks here. Recently obtained a copy of a Chesky demo cd, wow totally blew me away. Now I don't have top notch stereo equipment, but I can still tell the difference in realism and the naturalness of the music. There are lulls and peaks in the individual instruments as well as in the music overall. I don't know whether its the skill of the artists or the recording engineer but damn its a good break from listening to pop cds where the overall music level remains constant.
Darthfunk Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Bro are you talking about Dr Chesky dvd-audio disc? Yes its awesome man! Made myself a copy from a bro here ;)
braveheart1624705820 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 yes, Chesky brothers are famous for making wonderful recodring. The only thing is that their recording are always a bit on the softer side. Check out their SACDs. Superb!!!
basspundit Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Mine's not the DVD-A, its regular CD. Really wonder how it would sound on dedicated stereo set :) Bro are you talking about Dr Chesky dvd-audio disc? Yes its awesome man! Made myself a copy from a bro here ;)

Gramophone did "exclusively" import a Chesky Brothers hybrid SACD. Can't remember the title. But the cover is in red. Very nice clear vocals and pristine recording.

braveheart1624705820 Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 Which gramophone outlet has the biggest collection of SACD ro DVD-A? My best bet is on Capitol & Taka store.
basspundit Posted February 13, 2007 Author Posted February 13, 2007 Aiyoh....already looking at that option for awhile, dunno whether to get integrated with pass through or power amp. $$$! Get yourself a stereo power amp and intigrate it with your system ;D
Darthfunk Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I was a gramophone during lunch at Capital building. They have a wide range of SACD but abit messy. I still like the parkway gramophone very neat although the sacd are very limited. Aiyoh....already looking at that option for awhile, dunno whether to get integrated with pass through or power amp. $$$! Iam also considering a rotel 1080 (200w x 2) or a 1075 (120w x 5). The 1080 seems a better bet for pure music listening.
Jose Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 IMO, it's soft because the sound hasn't been processed and boosted much. yes, Chesky brothers are famous for making wonderful recodring. kzone Posted February 13, 2007 Posted February 13, 2007 I like soft recording.. can turn up the vol knob... so that the amp is using more power to drive the speakers.. better dynamics that way... Darth, y not consider Rotel's 200W x 5 channel? 8)

ahlek Posted February 14, 2007 Posted February 14, 2007 Another Chesky CD to check out is "Chesky Records 10 Best" http://www.chesky.com/core/details.cfm?productcode=CHE319&category=1 Especially like "Track #5 - Spooky", it's spooky how the turntable scratch sound seem to come from the back of my listening position.
