Hi,

Was mulling this around in my head...which makes better sense :

Scenario is equipment rack is front of room just in front of screen and Pj is (overhead) shelf placed at back wall of room.

1. Placing dvdp close together with de Pj (which in this case will be way at de back of de room at 21ft away) and run a lengthy digital coaxial(Will a belden 1694a work?) to AVR in front rack near screen. Oh de dvdp will share same power point wif PJ, any problems?

2. DVDP at front rack(wif avr) and run a lengthy hdmi cable to PJ at back of room 21ft away.

At de moment I can do either as I have enuff hdmi cable(10m Better cable) to reach de back and also enuff 1694a's to cover de distance as digital coaxial.

Any comments/experiences are more than welcome.

Thanks for reading

I don't know about others but I usually place my DVDP as close to the PJ as possible and run as short a length of cable to maximize my video quality. I run a 10m coax to my Receiver with no ill effects. Anyway, just try out both and see whether there is any noticeable difference. I usually find the video connections to be more sensitive to long runs than my audio.

i RECENTLY bought a STOLMENT rack from IKEA and self install it.

Its supposed to be used for walk in wardrobe but i used for housing my AV Eqpt.

I ran belden speaker cables for all 7 channels of speakers.

I believe spk cables should handle length better than signal cables

If u have the space, y not place all ur eq at the back? Then run long runs of speaker cable... no need to get out of seat to change disc, acess to ur AVR etc etc.. also no dustracting lights below ur screen... imaging also shud be better without the racks in between the speakers...

Oooaah,

Thanks guys for de inputs ...

On replacing de spkr cables and moving rack to behind ... wah piang tat one terukle as need to reroute all spkr(I run 7.2) cables already in place, not to mention de subwoofer cable ... so tat is  out... but de putting of dvdp on top of pj (in a double decker sort of shelf I plan to custom make) can be done if so, just need another set of coaxial rca cable will do and also another set of short hdmi cable( dis  one hv to be an el cheapo daiyo already as broke liao...hehehe)

Another point is dat if I do put de dvdp close together wif PJ, they will hav to share same powerpoint, will dat be an issue?Oh wat de heck let me try and see le...

Cheers and thanks bros...

Errr.. if the PJ is already over head, & u intend to place the DVDP on the pj, how incovnevient will be to change disc? I feel the DVDP shud be at a conveniently reachable location....

Hehehehe,

Totally forgot abt dat but I guess if de long lengths of hdmi causes problems then have to bring out de ladder le...

my rack is placed at the back next to my seating / listening position.

The eqpt consists of Projector at the top, DVDp, Eq, Xbox 360 , DSP A1 & 1 x Power Amp at bottom.

The rack can still be expandable for future eqpt.

My Sub is placed at the front , running a belden sub-cable 10 metres ($3 /m) using separate Pwr Pt.

The eqpt rack is supported by 1 x 3 m & 1x 6m extension sockets.

Is cheaper to runspk cables, invest in high quality signal cable instead.

My room size is 3.6 by 4 metres..

Can go LHS to get all the required cables...look 4 Robert ..quite helpful guy

Changing de spkr cables is out of de question as my surrs are all in their proper places it will be too much work to re route this ... Thanks for de inputs.
