Does anyone know of any specialist who offer Home Theatre System, LCD or Plasma TV Calibration service?

Not that I know of.

Maybe some of the "senior" bros here who have lots of calibration experience & equipment can help U out.  ;D

For basic TV calibration, just use any DVD with THX Optimizer (eg. Star Wars, Pearl Harbor, most Lucas Arts involved DVDs). Works reasonably well.

THX Optimizer is reasonably good, but limited to contrast, brightness, and sharpness.

If you want to have more complete calibrate, get AVIA/DVE DVD or TV Spider.

Would AVIA be still available in Singapore considering it is very old? Or must I order it through Amazon?

Also, Digital Video Essentials has an upcoming SD/HD-DVD combo disc (ETA: 27 Feb 2007) on Amazon. Would the DVE be better for calibration since it is up to date to newer sound formats?

Thanks in advance.

Quest has an MO for SVS, they also do AVIA discs I believe.

But make sure you really need it.

Thanks for the prompt reply Pete! I'm already in that MO for a PB10-NSD and a SPL meter, but it really doesnt seem to be moving.

I've no idea if I would really need a calibration disc. I personally have not used any calibration discs/ tools as yet. I've been toggling with the settings/configs, just by watching/hearing the dvds, to my comfort level.

I was just wondering if I could get more out of my system now since I'm moving towards bookshelves/floorstanders from my satellites, changing my sub and upgraded my receiver?

You have got yourself a lot of stuff recently.

Maybe its time to enjoy them first, and see.

I believe you got the SR 7001?

Its got its own calibration for audio, and unless you really to, a THX DVD has a simple setup procedure as well.

Why not save the $$ first, play around, buy some dvds and decide what to do later?

I actually find the Auto-EQ rather unaccurate or not to my liking.

For eg, when auto EQed, the centre speaker was still too soft for me. I had to manually re-config it. The same went for the Sub and the Surround Left and Right.

I understand subs need to be calibrated properly to fit into the rest of the set up? Thus a test/calibration disc + SPL meter would be necessary right?
