hifiluv Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 http://www.ikea.com.sg/products/product_display.asp?id=2932 i chance upon this flipping thru the Ikea catalog, just had a wild thot, for $29, can i use this to mount my surround instead? the beauty about tis is tat it has a 180 deg arc so u can "move" the speakers to fine tune the position and also can tilt. any comments? Tks :)
SiriuslyCold Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 it'll work but you'll have to drill holes in your speaker
hifiluv Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 yes, tat is the only "sacrifice", if u look at the item, can remove the butterfly bracket so tat only need to mount with 2 holes instead of 4.
synthesis1624705793 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Yea, you may as well get this instead for $10-20 more without damaging your speaker. It can swivel and tilt also. Strong enough to support JMLab Cobalt bookshelf weighing about 9kg. ;)
hifiluv Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 just chking, won't the "clamp" also leave marks on the area of contact?
synthesis1624705793 Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 just chking, won't the "clamp" also leave marks on the area of contact? Not really, even though I don't use the foam that was supplied. :)
Relax Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 just chking, won't the "clamp" also leave marks on the area of contact? The "clamp" area bracket have these soft cushion type foam for you to stick to its to prevent damaging the speaker. So far it didnot leave any mark on mine. As for the back clamp plate area, its have 2 pointed thumb screw which u need to screw on to hold the speaker. These 2 thumbsrews will definitely leave marks on your speaker. Workaround... put coin with soft foam on 1 side, screw incontact with coin. coin with foam side is clamping on speaker. No damage done.
