Darthfunk Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Capital Land is launching an en-bloc on Adelphi ...meeting at 3 pm today with owners or Good News ?......hurray, no more temptation 8) One of the oldest building around on an expensive piece of land. Iam not surprise if they convert it into a shopping mall.
SiriuslyCold Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 maybe they'll all move to Bukit Timah with X-audio... no more lunchtime browsing
hifiluv Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 maybe they'll all move to Bukit Timah with X-audio... no more lunchtime browsing not for those working at Ngee Ann poly or Maju Camp, ;D
f_spider Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 Everywhere Shopping Centres.............i see until my eyes strain Same old shit all over again , Mac lah, Watson lah, World of Sports lah, Kopi Tiam lah etc etc etc..... I'd rather specialized stores , like our beloved Adelphi If indeed there's a new owner ( esp this one!!!) , thats it , rental will surely go sky high......... I bet u a lot of tenants sure will b facing HARDER times :'( ,
hifi_enthusiast Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 I think x-audio's location is good because there is a big NTUC there. Can buy groceries and visit hi-fi showroom at the same time.... :) Anyway, prior to Adelphi, wasn't Plaza Singapura the 'hi-fi' shopping centre? So the only constant is change... :)
hotbird Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Supreme Shopping Centre (now called Park Mall) was also the place to go. They had quite a number of high-end hifi shops like Ultralinear, Reference Audio, CD Acoustics (no relationship to current one) etc... kzone Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 How about moving to meridien? Looking at the shops there now, dont think the rent is very high... Furthermore, easier to move stuffs up to the rooms during the Audio show...
SiriuslyCold Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 No la I think CapitalLand is taking advantage of the recent round of renovations and newly opened shops to raise rent :P guess who will pay in the end?
2100 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 No la I think CapitalLand is taking advantage of the recent round of renovations and newly opened shops to raise rent :P guess who will pay in the end? CapitalLand wants a "win-win" situation what. I tell you, with the current rate of "inflation", our salary earn $5k also not enough. Just slog and slog and pay off HDB and support the kids nia, no hobbies no nothing. Look at Vivocity, only 0.1 - 0.5% the shoppers are real buyers. Weekdays its like Ghost Town Eateries like Sushi Tei, BK, Secret Recipe, Coffee Bean are full of customers. I was there at 6pm Sunday and there were 2 restaurants which were totally empty, yes it is ZERO customers. Fancy a nasi lemak meal? It costs $5-7 at the high-end food court Food Republic! In the MRT, you see people carrying Watsons, Breadtalk, Giant plastic bags nia, no big buyers. Lets see how they survive. I tell you, the gap is widening real fast.

Chowbotak Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 Everywhere Shopping Centres.............i see until my eyes strain Same old nuts all over again , Mac lah, Watson lah, World of Sports lah, Kopi Tiam lah etc etc etc..... Bloody right mate, ppl here all same mentality, open one shop make a lot of money, later open branches everywhere! Same stupid shops in every shopping centres! I'll rather go Mustapha!
yellowhandman Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 wah lau...this is a shock...my office is in adelphi! btw it is a terrible place to work if you are into computers and hi-fi...everyday during lunchtime nothing to do, so just walk around funan and adelphi, and end up feeling itchy to spend money.
Jas007 Posted January 26, 2007 Posted January 26, 2007 wah lau...this is a shock...my office is in adelphi! btw it is a terrible place to work if you are into computers and hi-fi...everyday during lunchtime nothing to do, so just walk around funan and adelphi, and end up feeling itchy to spend money. are you in the legal business :D anyway, half of the shops in Adelphi are not even audiophile shops pity those lil beauty related shops that are at present just surviving even sigh
