Northern Oak Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 I was at BBK Plant in Dong Guan, Chang An yesterday to get the BBK DV999 player. To my surprise, I have noticed that there is an Oppo office right next to the BBK Direct Sales Office. I have spoken to the sales officer and he said that BBK DV988 (same board as Oppo 971 or 970) and all Oppo players are for export only, therefore, they cannot sell it at their office. Since they have the Oppo office here, perhaps someone might be interested in hooking up with them and get them imported? FYI, for DV988, you can get it in Hong Kong easily, at around HKD880 but you wouldn't be able to find it in Shenzhen.
SiriuslyCold Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 "them" meaning Oppo? SL Technology are already doing that
Northern Oak Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 yup, them as in Oppo. The warehouse for the players are just diagonally opposite the main factory. Sorry, not too sure about SL Technology.
Norman_Chan Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 So what attracted to you to buy the BBK DV999 ? Any web-link to see the product and spec ?
Northern Oak Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 SACD, DVD-Audio, MT1392, HDCD, HDMI, VGA, Component, S-Video, Composite, Optical Out, Slot Drive, Nice Casing and most importantly, BBK is 5 mins from my CM. http://www.gdbbk.com/productsinfo_st.asp?id=564&pid=4
Northern Oak Posted January 25, 2007 Author Posted January 25, 2007 Expensive. RMB 1830. The rest of the models are around half of that.
Darthfunk Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 The entire world has to get directly from Oppo USA. Their China plant will ship direct to the Oppo factory in the US for further QC checks and modifications. Then after it will ship out world wide.
SiriuslyCold Posted January 25, 2007 Posted January 25, 2007 unless you are willing to import BBK- branded players

I must find some free time to drop by the Oppo office to see if I can find more information.

Northern Oak Posted February 4, 2007 Author Posted February 4, 2007 northern saw the kd700 ktv model like very interesting... u saw it there @bkk?izzit expensive? m gng to dong guan tis yr..is the office very far from hou jie? how do find the quality? pls advice thanks hi rebirth78, I didn't check out the rest of the models but I did recall seeing around 10 models there. Most of their models retail below 1000RMB and can be found at Su Ning or Gome. These are the Best Denki, Harvey Norman equivalents but should be more expensive by 50 to 100RMB, as compared to Direct Sales Office of BBK. (You might want to take a look at LCD TVs too. Sony 40 inch LCD KLV40V200A is sold at S$3000 while over here, it's around 3.6~3.7K.) 厚街is around 20~30 mins from BBK office. If you are booking a car or getting a cab, you will probably pay less than 80RMB for a return trip so please factor that in. The office is not big, only slightly bigger than the size of a 4 room flat's living room, so don't expect too much. It would be better to call them first before you make the trip. The office is only open on weekdays, during office hours. BTW, BBK is at 江貝步步高大道, between上沙and烏沙.
rebirth78 Posted February 5, 2007 Posted February 5, 2007 thanks northern.. i m a newbie but can u advice on the quality of dv999 how does it compares to those generic brand olike philips of toshiba upscaling dvd player? thanks
Northern Oak Posted February 6, 2007 Author Posted February 6, 2007 hi rebirth78, I'm a newbie in AV too so I can't comment much about the quality compared to the rest, though I can say that I'm pretty pleased with the PQ via HDMI. SACD SQ is surprisingly good but CD playback is average only.
rebirth78 Posted February 7, 2007 Posted February 7, 2007 thanks my last question is if i were to buy from china n use it here in singapore must i add anything like a transformer or anything so that the power pt no problem? else would there b any voltaage issue? thanks in advance
hotbird Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 China voltage (220V) is slightly different from Singapore (230V). You get a local warranttee when buying the Oppo here, you have to stay in China to honor your warrantee. No free lunch, as simple as that. Don't be penny-wise, pound foolish ;D More info at http://www.kropla.com/electric2.htm http://www.international-electrical-supplies.com/world-electricity-differences.html thanks my last question is if i were to buy from china n use it here in singapore must i add anything like a transformer or anything so that the power pt no problem? else would there b any voltaage issue? thanks in advance

I didn't give a hoot about warranty too, so nothing for me to worry about. To each his own.
hotbird Posted February 8, 2007 Posted February 8, 2007 I guess you will never buy insurance too. Welll good luck ! ;D hi rebirth78, I didn't have to add anything else and it's working fine. I didn't give a hoot about warranty too, so nothing for me to worry about. To each his own.
