FirstTime Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Just wondering what combination (CD Player +Amp + Speakers) would you get if you have a budget of 4.5k? I am using it for reference as well. ;D cheers
bolts1624705732 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Rega Apollo player, warm-sounding Made-in-china tube amp, MA RS6.
Quest88 Posted January 18, 2007 Posted January 18, 2007 SB3, Benchmark DAC-1, Flying moles or Nuforce integrated, JMLab cobalt or Usher.
2100 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Just wondering what combination (CD Player +Amp + Speakers) would you get if you have a budget of 4.5k? I am using it for reference as well. ;D cheers Not really sure if Sky Audio's Qinpu A-8000 has been sold, else that is really pretty good if properly matched with a more exciting type of speaker (the amp's pretty smooth and a little warm in the lower mids, but not exactly lacking in the details when I was comparing it with a Hypex UCD amp). Speakers like Dynaudio Focus 220, Monitor Audio GS20 would do good? Still doing good in my sys. Then top it off with a TS Lim CD-67 player, confirm musical setup. ;D
2100 Posted January 19, 2007 Posted January 19, 2007 Another very good value for money setup if you are more into vocals/intimate jazz, small ensemble classical and don't blast too loud. Almarro 318Bn (2.8k) matched with Usher CP-6311 (2.2k). Don't have to worry about matching sonics to your taste, its all tunable with 4 coupling and 2 input caps to your preference, very large difference more so than changing tubes (6SN7 and 6SL7) so cfm match your taste with the Usher. CDP, another round for TS Lim CD-67SE. ;D If you can spend more on the source, do check out the Apollo, or some of the modified players from www.effectiveaudiomod.com
