Hi Guys,

at last i join the world of 720P... my second projector i bought secondly recently TW600 and it is really a world of difference fr my previous 480P pj... I do a search on this PJ and some seems to say that at 1200 it will give a warning message to replace Lamp. Of course i understand that PJ Lamp life will varies and i tried do a search on this topic... not much found... (BTW if you using Tw600 also pls PM me as I wish to learn more from you and knowledge sharing etc.) Hence hope you guys can discuss and help on the following question:

1 If you using Epson Tw600, have your lamp last beyound 1200 hrs? Where is the cheapest to buy LAMP - Price Japan/ our local shop justlamps? or from Epson singapore?

2.  Is it common people replace Lamps as i was thinking if a projector reach 2000hrs and you buy $500 lamp, is it a high probility that other parts fail and you wast the $500 totally?

3.  Besides the normal conserving lamp mtd, do you all think using PJ in Aircon room will definitely help in prolonging lamp life? Any other mtds?

4  Is it wise to stock a 2nd lamp first as fearing it may just went obsolete and that there is no such lamp 2 yrs later?

I'm a pj newbie.. based on wat I read & from asking long time PJ owners, u dont have to worry abt the lamp so much. It seems many ppl over worry abt the lamp issues...

How many hours has the bulb clocked so far? Based on wat I read so far, it should last u 2-3K hours...

My personal view: if u're not a heavy user, one lamp will last u a few years & the urge to upgrade the Pj will most likely come before the lamp dies.

If u're a very heavy user, then the replacement bulb would definitely still be around when u need to change one... so either way, no need to get a new bulb when u have barely clock a few hundred hours on it...

Most PJ quote 2k to 3k hours of lamp life. I'm planning to use the projector as my main TV in the living room.

In that case, I would be looking at about 6 hours or more usage per day. Which also means that I will have to change the bulb about once every year, is this true ??  ???

Hmm, that's one hell of a lot of tele. :) First thing to clarify, are you sure you want to have a projector on for that long which will mean keeping the room light controlled at all times?

I use my projector for everything: DVDs, TV, downloaded content, and a little bit of surfing (only 800x600  ;D). My lamp is now just over the 2000 hour mark and I could replace it. I've noticed the loss in brightness, especially during the day. However, it's still fine to watch at night.

More to the point though, the projector is over 2 years old now and it's only 4:3 with 800x600. I will probably replace the bulb and send it to my parents in Australia. I'm upgrading soon to 1080p.

Therefore, with the use you think you are going to have I would get a spare bulb if the bundled price is good (otherwise buy later) and keep in mind that you will probably want to upgrade :). Especially if you read this forum! ;)

Hi bros,

Just to add another question to the sifu's :

I read here a long time ago about generic lamps for PJ's, is that worth thinking about or must die die get from Ori manu?

Thinkin hard about jumping on dis bandwagon so asking this.

Thank you

I don't normally watch TV but in the living room, my sole SCV box is hooked up to my projector for when I watch during the weekends.

But I normally watch "US tv shows" on it (abt 1-2 hours every evening and abt 5+ hours almost every day).

I upgraded to my THIRD projector even before any of the bulbs ever went on the blink ;) My second projector still has over 3000+ hours (only used low lamp mode!). Bought my third projector with a spare lamp. Not entirely sure why, but I sure hope I get to use it ;)

I am using TW600, hence personally can comment on it but not tw700... So far this one mth using it had been more than satisfactory.. the PQ is good, natural looking colour to me and black depth is very good but need very dark room i think unless u want to use high lamp mode where pj gets noisy.... I seen this set hooking up with Blue ray and HD player and WOW WOW WOW, to me it can last me a long time with true 720P image ah..

Ok but i also recommend u to see post of dixivisual whereby he buy fr US online at $SGD1700, i see his DLP OPTOMA in action at daytime with curtain and wow the image is better than my TW600, sharper n black blacker. If can u consider DLP 720P PJ....

Ok guys is any shop still selling TW600? i interest to know what price it is selling now and also what price for TW700? tks

Hi hermanL thanks for the input on TW600.

I also wanna know which shop is selling(both TW600 and TW700), and gonna go down to test it :D

Before knowing TW600 was considering TW700, Mit 1000u.

Saw some post on AVS both TW700 and Mit 1000u are highly graded for starter. ^^

Mit 1000u local don't have, and order from oversea don't have international warranty :(

As i wanna use it for a long time, the warranty is important.

So far saw the price here from local shop selling TW700 for 2.7k+

Went to HVZ, the price for TW700 is 1.4+K USD around 2.2K + shipping and 5% total around 2.5-6K(maybe less than that) with international warranty.

How come the price is cheaper then local? Is it reliable to buy from HVZ???

Btw hermanL may i know where you bought your TW600 and how much is it? Thanks

Cheer!
