guess this being a free forum, everyone is entitled to respond to any thread based on their knowledge, ability to advice, etc.....

when you do not get response does not mean pple are rich or whatsoever, it could jus be real valid reasons that they do not know what to advice  ;)

end of the day, besides hanging around waiting for advice, you could also take a proactive step to search the web for reviews which i believe are plentiful.

the final step would to let you eyes/ears and pockets to take control  ;D

personnal opinion is whether u r going HD ?? 1080i ?

if u r watching lots of tv programmes, my suggestion is to for  low end LCD as there r limited HD broadcast HD programmes except those intro by SH today. Discovery & NG HD channels. Even then u need to subscribe to watch HD programmes.

if u go to any showroom , most likely they r showing from good source which makes the LCD looks nice, for eg from DVDs or even HD Cam etc

suggest when u go to any showroom ask the sales exe, to view TV programmes instead of from DVD source, then look at the diff between quality of the diff brands.

if i dont get good reproduction from the LCD, suggestion is go for the cheapest. When HD is  more affordable, then u can think of getting higher grade LCD which can make full use of the HD or 1080i capability

I just purchased a Toshiba WL68 32" TV today and delivery next Tuesday. I know Toshiba is probably one of the least popular brand as compared to Samsung, Sony, Sharp,.. but I find the this new model with 100 Hz is a rather interesting. PQ is a matter of individual preference, but my focus is more on the TV channel. On Channel News Asia, I find the running text is the smoothest and clearest among the popular brands, and the PQ looks good to me and no complaint. It also has a back light control feature that I find it pretty useful, a rare feature among other LCD TV at this price point for tuning of the picture to your liking.

I have also tested the latest Hitachi IPS panel side by side with Sharp, when I played the DVD movie that I brought along, the picture noise level seem to be quite high on the Hitachi. A show stopper for me.  I was torn between the Sharp and Toshiba, and I finally go for the Toshiba, but the Sharp wins hand down on the look department.

I believed your budget is below $2K.

If I were you, I will go for the Samsung. Sharp is good on their higher end LCD.

Samsung is still better if you are looking for lcd as they had be around for quite long. They do manufacture their own lcd panels & some of the Japanese brands are using their panel.

JVC Lcd also look presentable.

Hi bros,

I personally is using the Samsung 32" R series .. PQ is pretty decent ! only problem i had with it was that it had an auto dimming function which i find quite irratating as noticed the brightness of the panel keeps changes while watching normal  tv programs, playing movies is less obvious. I requested for a demo trial fm Samsung and ask the tech to help me to disable the function .Apart fm that , I am a pretty satisfied with it ! "p
