kzone Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Hi, anyone got any idea? Been looking for months for one...
petetherock Posted January 13, 2007 Posted January 13, 2007 Hi there Have you tried Electrades? Cheers
kzone Posted January 14, 2007 Author Posted January 14, 2007 yup, tried all the shops in Adelphi & some in SLS.. Audio 88 has one silver color no brand 18" chuck at one corner at the shop, prob one half of a bookshelf stand.. but at close to $200 for a probably used pc, I feel dat its way overpriced.. KEC has one on display also part of a pair of stands but top plate too small...
petetherock Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 Some thoughts: Make one out of pine or hardwood Tripod style (maybe even 2) if your centre is not too heavy Make do first with a solid wooden stool- i know it sounds silly but its temp :)
ks Posted January 14, 2007 Posted January 14, 2007 tried going to Ikea, carrefour or any furniture shops?
mcmaranello Posted January 15, 2007 Posted January 15, 2007 bought a 18" ctr spkr std last Nov at SLS 3rd sty near escalator, can't remember shop name, ~$80+.
kzone Posted January 15, 2007 Author Posted January 15, 2007 Thanks! Dats AVIT i think... Last time I went there many months back, the old lady told me they dont sell 1 pc... all comes in pair... Will try again with the old man this time...
kzone Posted January 16, 2007 Author Posted January 16, 2007 mcmaranello, is the one u bought 1 cylinder pillar type? Its not in the store, so I have to call them 1 day in advance for them to collect it fm their warehouse if I want it. From the pic, it looks wobbly & dont look so nice... what do u think of it after using it for the past few mths? Btw, the old man asked this crap chap to serve me & I hate his clueless but pretend to know it all attitude... when u were searching for ur stands, did u come across any other places that has an 18" centre stand?
mcmaranello Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Yeap it's the one cylinder pillar type. It's not great looking but it served its purpose. Do check that all spikes go thru the base plate, I had to bring back for them to re-thread one of the holes coz the spike can't screw fully thru. And I didn't see other places selling, seems quite rare to find one.
kzone Posted January 20, 2007 Author Posted January 20, 2007 Since centre stand is so difficult to find, wanna share that I finally bought a B&W 16" centre stand fm Monsoon for about $150, same material as the $80 sold at Avit (SLS) but with a nicer design (2 rectagular pillars). Gd service by Monsoon... Hopefuly future forumers no need to go through so much trouble finding one...
