ztrider Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 My friend juz told me that a digital interconnect cable should not be used to connect a subwoofer with the receiver as it is a coaxial cable. I also feel as if he is right as my receiver gain is set very high. feel that something is wrong. Is there a difference between a subwoofer cable and a digital interconnect ? Also am i right to say that a analog cable is supposed to be used to connect to a subwoofer and receiver ?
synthesis1624705793 Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 You can use digital coaxial cable for subwoofer connection. Tell your friend! Set your receiver correctly, ie front and center as Small so the bass will be directed to the subwoofer and therefore your subwoofer gain does not need to be so high.
ztrider Posted January 12, 2007 Author Posted January 12, 2007 the receiver is set correctly with fronts set to small . Tested with digital coaxial (belden 1505T) and analog cable(red and white cable). I get more bass from the analog cable compared to digital coaxial cable, had to lower the channel level for subwoofer to +7.0dB previously with digital coaxial was at +9.5db juz short of 0.5 db to max output. however the bass is not tight.
basspundit Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 Tightness and loudness quite different things though. Loudness = Simpsons THX trailer where heads explode :), whereas tightness is affected by several factors. I'm sure the more experienced folks here may elaborate! the receiver is set correctly with fronts set to small . Tested with digital coaxial (belden 1505T) and analog cable(red and white cable).
