Hmmm better then SED.... and SED is not even out??? But should be good. Looking forward to it.

If it is really better than SED, expect to be "well priced".

Sony has just released a state-of-the-art 70" LCD that retails for US$30k.

I inquired with Pioneer Singapore today and was told the 8G plasmas will only be launched here late September or October. Looks like it's still a few months away.  :( No idea about pricing.

I very much doubt Pio SG will use US pricing X USD/SGD exchange rate to price the product here. The 7th Gen 507XG street price in the US is even lower than SG pricing on the 427 at some online stores...

Well, at least the PDP-5000EX was priced near the original MSRP of PRO-FHD1.

It'll depend if Pioneer Sg is interested in competing in the 1080p flat-panel market..

Without any 1080p panel competition from Panny, my guess is that they'll just launch the 8th gen XGA and WXGA models in this region and.. maybe lower price of the aged 5000EX a little.  :(

Japan just launch the PDP-A427HX while US/Europe is launching the PDP-428HD/XA so which model are we getting?

There's no point in us trying to compete with Panasonic on cost when it comes to screens," spokesman Jim Catcheside told HCC. "We're a small company in comparision so the only route for us is to produce super-high quality products that command a price premium

Nope, they said the 50", but seriously 42" and Full HD doesn't quite gel :)

Don't get caught up in the numbers game, and why not compare the 507 say, to a Full HD Sharp G7 and see for yourself, especially if SD TV is your main viewing source.
