Yagami Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 As topic, been around to all popular places, Laser Flair blue Max, garaphome All only have the gift set. Why is that so? The best i saw is a 2 disc non extended cut
DMC Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Did you try Sembawang Music Centre? It's available at around $60.
naglfar Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 As topic, been around to all popular places, Laser Flair blue Max, garaphome All only have the gift set. Why is that so? The best i saw is a 2 disc non extended cut Saw it at Gramophone City Hall a few days back. Pretty sure it's there. $59.90.
Yagami Posted January 6, 2007 Author Posted January 6, 2007 Hi correct me if i see wrongly The 59.90 at Cityhall is the 2 disc code 1 not the Extended 3 Disc. They only have the extended version in a gift pack which cost well over 100. I just had another look at Taka's Garaphome and 59.90 is the 2 disc. Sigh.. Will tyr Sembawang but i think should be either code 3 or the normal 2 disc code 1 Thnx all for yr time
xiao_vin Posted January 6, 2007 Posted January 6, 2007 The 59.90 at Cityhall is the 2 disc code 1 not the Extended 3 Disc. i don't think so la cannot be so expensive 1 2 disc edition now is about $40
muscular27 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Most shops had sold out these titles... I bought mine from Sembawang at Plaza Sing for $59.90 abt 3 weeks ago. I believe Grammophone is bringing in more but dunno when.
muscular27 Posted January 7, 2007 Posted January 7, 2007 Indeed the extended version DVDs have been selling like hot cakes, most probably faster than the normal HD-DVD cut ;D What type of comment is that?? There are a few scenario to explain the shortage: a.) Shops bring in very few copies of the extended edition? So it sold out pretty fast. b.) How many HD owners are there in Singapore? Less than 10 or 15? And I can bet with you that each of them has a copy of King Kong HD-DVD. And how many sd-dvd owners are there in Singapore? c.) How many shops here actually sells hd-dvds/blu-rays?
naglfar Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Hi correct me if i see wrongly The 59.90 at Cityhall is the 2 disc code 1 not the Extended 3 Disc. They only have the extended version in a gift pack which cost well over 100. I just had another look at Taka's Garaphome and 59.90 is the 2 disc. Sigh.. Will tyr Sembawang but i think should be either code 3 or the normal 2 disc code 1 Thnx all for yr time Well all the best in your search. I was also looking for this, and stumbled upon a good offer in the Net. Ordered the Code 2 of the extended version (3DVD) from Amazon UK. They were having some offer, got it for 8 pounds! Should be here by this week...
muscular27 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Dude, I do not have a problem with you but with your irresponsible way of writing. And it's not about showing off high def medium. I have hardly touted the wonders of HD openly in this forum. Just do a search dude. If you wanna compare, why can't you compare the extended edition with the normal SD edition? Why drag in hd-dvd? Izzit cos you don't have HD and hence you're rather sour abt it?
muscular27 Posted January 8, 2007 Posted January 8, 2007 Dude, In case you did not notice, I mentioned I BOUGHT the 3 disc version as well. And yes, I also have the "normal" 2 discs version as well as the hd-dvd version. In case it did not enter into your brain, I only have issue with your way of writing and not you. Well, it seemed clear to me, my dear sir that your agenda is just to bash high def. What smugness you perceived me to have is probably due to your misinterpretation or whatever... I was only offering the possible explanations of why the 3 discs version is difficult to obtain. If you are immature enough to believe that I am lauding the high & mighty wonders of HD, so be it. As for your question, I have viewed the hd-dvd version more than 5 times simply because the PQ is that good. As for my 3 discs version, I have watched it once (for the sake of the extra 13 minutes) before passing it to my father. And upscaled 1080p's PQ of King Kong just cannot compare to the 1080i hd version of KK. It's just day & night difference. But so what, isn't it?
muscular27 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Fine, tell me what equipments you are using to play DVDs, HD-DVDs, Blu-Rays. Sorry dude. What I'm worried next, after telling you, is you will say that I am even more smug. You can ask from other forum members what I have if you wish, dudes such as jasonyeo, joamonte, darkjediknight, eggz, audio, oliverlim, etc.... Safe to say, all my sd dvds are viewed thru upscaled 1080p. Hd-dvds are viewed thru the toshiba player. And I watched more sd-dvds than hd-dvds. Why don't you pay my setup a visit? And bring along your KK 3 discs edition for comparison sake. And you do not have to use the word "frigging" in your pm to me. We are all adults here. I am sorry if you cannot accept a criticism of your writing style. Peace.
Audio Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 I believe I got the SD-DVD 2-disc deluxe version Region 1 with me. Unopened. Interested? Bought that long before the HD-DVD became available. I don't think I will need this anymore..... (Audio)
muscular27 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 but I just don't like a person who condemns the extended version more than the theatrical version, unless you are talking about a HD extended release, it's the fact that I'm having a hard time finding the costly extended edition and then someone says he prefers the theatrical version just because of picture quality, you think you feel song bo? Dude, no one is condemning the extended edition. Right from the beginning, I'm just offering the possibilities why the extended edition is so "hot" and also to tie in to your first statement when compared to hd-dvd. This KK release is unlike LOTR trilogy where 30-45 extra minutes were included per episode which imo, makes the storytelling even better. And I too took about 1 week to search whole of Singapore before getting the 3-discs version of KK. The 13 extra minutes of action are nice as far as I'm concerned. I'm sorry if you could not be objective about the whole thing. If PQ is not important to you, then why upscale to 1080p when watching KK or the Bond series as reflected in your other thread which you were rather enthusiastic abt? Good PQ and SQ just make the whole movie more enjoyable isn't it? My offer still stands if you wanna visit my setup. But leave the hostility outside my door. Peace.
muscular27 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 You should at least tell me what speakers, receivers, tv/projectors you're using to play your movies why are you asking me to ask other ppl about your setup? I have explained my reasoning why I chose not to. And thankfully, after seeing your latest post, I'm rather glad I did not do so. And more likely you have not even watched a single hd-dvd/blu-ray before bashing hd or blu ray to kingdom come in order to justify your superb upscaled 1080p PQ. And judging from your earlier post, I guess I assesment of you is right. You are an immature person. Good day to you and good luck to you as well that you find your HT nirvana. PS: Kiddo, nowadays, step-down transformers' sizes have dropped tremendously. It's no longer bulky. Nothing wrong with "gan jiong" I guess. Just like you being "kia si" that you will waste money in getting first gen stuff. Both are inherent Singaporeans' traits.
Jason Yeo Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 ........... but I don't understand why you ppl are so gan jiong, must chiong HD all the way to overseas, to the extent of using bulky transformers or using game consoles to play (which I think it's laughable), what if subsequent 2nd gen, 3rd gen and so forth players improve the performance further, then wouldn't it be a waste of money to go and buy another hardware to replace? Is it true that all Singaporeans cannot wait and must waste money to enjoy the latest in technology? Not true all Singaporean cannot wait if you are one of the Singaporeans ;D. Bro , this is what we call hobby . You lose money if you are in this hobby no matter how you wait . There will be 5th , 6th and final gen of players . Then it will be subsitute by another format . Blame the game . :) If there are no pioneer on new technology , who gives new birds all the reviews and advises ? Cool down , we are all in "wasting money" games ;D
Jason Yeo Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 You should at least tell me what speakers, receivers, tv/projectors you're using to play your movies why are you asking me to ask other ppl about your setup? You can check the planet equipment lists . However , bro muscular27 has not updated his latest toys apparently ;D
muscular27 Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Cannot update my setup lei... Anyway, even then, he will just say I want to show off. So better to keep quiet. :-X ;D

dbchoong Posted January 9, 2007 Posted January 9, 2007 Ok lah... please stop this debate else this thread goes to digital heaven and never to be seen again. Did not know a big monkey can cause this.... Cheers!

Please refrain from flaming each other anymore...or else really going to the trash bin for good. Peace bros...

Never ending , just like DVD remastered, superbit and etc . :-\ And now the war between HD and BD ..... hate the game but what to do ..... :'(
tsammyc Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Des, so when are you going to join the rest of us in HD Nirvana? What is the most fun when I have visitors is that I pretend to show them my new SXRD, turn on KK HD T-Rex fight and watch their jaw drop ;D
zepp3lin Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 enthusiast, Muscular and Jason are the best guys here, they are pretty humble guys in Xtremeplace, they are not stuck up guys like what you think. Peace for all. I'm not so active anymore in HT as I leave what I have now for maybe a year, two or three :). Right now I'm concentrating mostly on my Electric Guitar collection and playing technics. It cost money too as I'm diverting my hard earn to the Guitars Equipment for now. This is my long time passion and it came back suddenly from watching all those Music DVDs on my HT. ;D
desray Posted January 10, 2007 Posted January 10, 2007 Des, so when are you going to join the rest of us in HD Nirvana? What is the most fun when I have visitors is that I pretend to show them my new SXRD, turn on KK HD T-Rex fight and watch their jaw drop ;D No money now...so have to wait when the Player becomes more 'affordable'. This is an expensive hobby.
