zapp1624705742 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Sheesh this is horrid. VPOST is really starting to piss me off. I ordered 2 omnipolar speakers last Dec and sent the invoice to VPOSTUSA for processing and only now after the speakers have ARRIVED in their USA office that they send me a mail: Please be informed that due to the heightened security, the US postal securities have tightened their control over items that may be shipped overseas out of US from our shipping address. In the past, vPOST is able to attempt to have these dangerous goods shipped out via an alternative route to Singapore. However, this alternative route is now unavailable. In view of these stricter restrictions, we have since stopped processing customer's invoice that contains any of these dangerous goods. This will also prevent items from being sent over to our US shipping centre, only to be withheld at the premises for collection or redirection back to the merchant and to incur redirection fee for shipping the item back to the merchant. We wish to inform that your invoice consists of paint/spray/nail polish/perfume/speaker/ handphone/laptop/ lithium batteries/lithium batteries contained or packed with equipment which is/are classified by US Customs as Dangerous Goods, details at this vpost link: https://www.vpost.com.sg/vpostusa05/prohibit.html or/and vPOSTUSA Terms and Conditions Para 11. Due to the heightened security checks at US customs on our US shipping partners, we regret we are unable to process this invoice. Please kindly arrange with your merchant not to deliver your item to our shipping address. If your merchant has already forwarded your package, we can help arrange to return the package to the merchant or forward it to another US address upon receiving. Please note that for returning or forwarding these packages, an administrative fee of S$10 per package is chargeable and you will are also required to pay for the return or forwarding postage. Alternatively, you may arrange with your merchant to pickup the package from our US office. You may follow up with the seller for a refund after the item is returned. We greatly appreciate your kind understanding and final instruction on how to deal with your package(s) that could not be forwarded from US to Singapore. Thank you and have a nice day. Yours sincerely Tania vPOST Customer Service Officer vPOST www.vpost.com.sg <http://www.vpost.com.sg > I vpostusa@vpost.com.sg CRAP...this is singapore post office efficiency for you. If they had advised me on the day i sent my invoice i would have cancelled my order. Now its literally stuck in their processing office...still want to charge admin fee etc etc. Man this is really a mess...
civicguy Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Our world class system led by highly paid scholars !! :)
petetherock Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Bro, sorry about your treatment I encourage you to write about it I did complain before about their messups Some world class shipping. At least more people need to know about their lousy service. Glad I heard about it too. Was comtemplating some MMG speakers. Anyway, have you considered the Eltax HT2 instead from Adelphi?
zapp1624705742 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 I am still awaiting that Tania to call me back. She is soooo gonna get a shelling...
zapp1624705742 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 o best part...apparently the VPOST terms and conditions is supposedly updated in 2005 BUT funny thing is that Dec 2005 i shipped thru VPOSTUSA from Amazon c/o Vanns my OMNIPOLAR MICRO SPEAKERS! /rant shelling starts
velocity1624705768 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 yo bro! sorry to hear abt it. Vpost really FUBAR. Is it me alone but do other bros find that their shipping rates seem to have increased quite a fair bit? I just took delivery of some DVDs and the billing scared the shit out of me.
dbchoong Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 OmniPolar Micro Loudspeakers = Dangerous Goods?! ??? Huge subwoofers is what, then? ;D That's it lah... can say goodbye to vpost....
domj Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Wah..I also contemplating getting the Mirages using VPOST and now this...can ferget it liao loh..
petetherock Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 Hey Zapp If you are talking to them, any chance you can ask them to elaborate further on specific items which are banned. I actually used US post to ship some headlights (with batteries) from my friend's home over there. Maybe that's the way with such an incompetent service. Actually we shouldn't even call it a service, we pay good money. Power to the people, write to the press!
velocity1624705768 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 OmniPolar Micro Loudspeakers = Dangerous Goods?! ??? Huge subwoofers is what, then? ;D That's it lah... can say goodbye to vpost.... Mebbe they are scared that if you stuff explosives into the speaker, it would disperse fragments in 360 deg inflicting far more damage than a conventional forward firing speaker... ;D
zapp1624705742 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 Well they just sent me an email again stating that they are looking into it etc. if cannot ship over - still must settle the returns by MYSELF. What kind of service is that man...
hotbird Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 If you want premium service, use DHL, FedEx or UPS. Vpost isl dependent on the local postal partners and given 2nd or 3rd class priorities, as they do not own the transport medium there. As always, you will always get for what you paid for. ;D
zapp1624705742 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 DHL, FedEX UPS do not allow a holding office to receive the goods on behalf of buyers...thats the selling point of VPOST anyway. Idea is good but i think execution leaves much to be desired. I think for the price their delivery times are OK. Anyway, my rant is about how they tell me that the speakers cannot be delivered only AFTER it has been sent to them. They should have told me when i sent them the invoice. Talking about this gets my blood boiling again...gotta cool down :-\
flong928 Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 I have THREE sets of speakers stuck at BOTH BLOODY VPostUSA LOCATIONS (The brilliant goverment scholar who decided on the FIRST location (Compton California) didn't realise that you HAVE TO PAY SALES TAX IF YOU BUY FROM WITHIN CALIFORNIA!) of VPostUSA and I am trying to get DHL/UPS/FEDEX to sort it out for me! Call me at 9022-3022 if you want in on this arrangement, we split shipping/handling costs pro-rata? I have since received one set of speakers via DHL and one set sent via US Post DELIVERED TO MY HOUSE BY SINGPOST! (I can only assume that US Customs [Who VPost claims is the cause of the ban] applies different standards on SingPost compared to UPS/DHL/FEDEX or US Post?] Nobody higher up than telephone customer representative at VPost Singapore will dare to answer my call, the supervisor tells the customer rep to tell me that talking to the customer rep is the same thing! So now they have no problems sending DAILY REQUESTS FOR INVOICES and then following up with emails that INSULT YOUR INTELLIGENCE the followed BY MORE DAILY REQUESTS FOR INVOICES! Regards Proud Singaporean
zapp1624705742 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 Hi Flong928, Tks for sharing your experience lol...well looks like i am not the only one. I am waiting their reply on how they are sorting out to ship the speakers...will contact you if i need help.
ddhinakaran Posted January 12, 2007 Posted January 12, 2007 flong928/zapp, Any updates on your speaker. I have my speakers also stuck in vpostusa. Let me know if there any way out.
imbest Posted February 7, 2008 Posted February 7, 2008 try comgateway. I just got my Kenwood HTB-S610 sent over.....no problem leh.... I think a lot of online sites have started to banned vpost and comgateway. On top of the "security" ban by US government, merchants would like to protect their overseas branches too..... my girl has been complaining that she can't buy Coach bags from US and get them shipped over....it's like 1/3 the price selling locally....kaoz....
kardtoon Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 I would love to hear about the process that you guys used if you can successfully get this sent over. I'm thinking about getting a pair of anthony Gallos floor standers this way. Fortunately I called them up first and they told me no go for speakers so I didn't make the purchase yet.
