prelude95 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Hi, very excited that my samsung LCD TV -LA40F71B is arriving later today - at about 7pm. However, at the same time quite puzzle over what are the things to check and test? What i can think of is only 1. Dead pixel Can any kind soul help me out in listing the things to check and test? Really appreciate all help rendered. MANY THANKS
louco73 Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 No expert here, but thinking off the top of my head: Throw in a test disc, e.g. DVE, if you have one and bring up the basic test patterns to make sure everything is in order. Check that all inputs are working

prelude95 Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 wow awesome!!! :) may i ask whats the current price tag of this model now? Full HD1080 sia!!! :o Brought mine from Mustafa for $3999 (they throw in $150+$50 nike voucher & an Samsung 4G MP3 worth more than $300).......the additional $50 was while i was thinking to buy or not, he throw in as an additional for NEW Year (i brought it at 11.+++pm on 31st Dec). On top of that, he give me a DVI - HDMI cable & also a component cable. Good deal......however, the experience sux now. Suppose to install the LCD for me on Thursday night. Till now, its NOT install yet.....its now lying on my living room.....waiting for a brand new set to be delivery later in the noon for install. problems. 1. Delivery man arrive late (so the bracket install could not install) can only come back next day 2. Next day, installer came....only to find out the track on back of LCD is missing. so cant install again. 3. Called samsung promotor to settle issue.....he give me sh|t and ask me to complain to manager......then hang up the phone on me. 4. Called Mustafa to complain and was being transfer numerous times and still cant get to speak to a manager. 5. Finally manage to get CEO of Mustafa and he got his GM whom in turn get his staffs to call me. Can only delivery and install later in Noon. (what sort of Serive quality is this?) Customer centric? my A55 So till now, its NOT install yet......the whole buying experience SUX....but the price is good. Final conclusion - in future, i wont buy or recommend anyone to buy from them. Personally to me, Service is more important. Anyway, this issue wont be over even after the installation. i will speak to Samsung manager about the service of their promotor.

Do u have a DVD player which can output 1080p to this LCD? Yup, i am enjoying it. However, i am having some "problem" 1. Wife complain the screen is too bright. I have already change the setting to standard or movies to dim it. However, everytime when i on the TV again, it will switch back to dynamic.....which is the brightest. 2. I dont have a 1080p player. Any place i can get one? please recommend me some brand and if possible the price too. But when playing 1080i, i can tell the PQ is clearer :) Thanks.
Quest88 Posted January 11, 2007 Posted January 11, 2007 i suggest you keep it around dynamic type of contrast/brightness setting. standard makes you lose too much contrast IMO.. very noticable in dark scenes. to reduce the 'glare' of the tv, you just tweak the energy saving mode instead, to medium or less depending on your lighting.
