pcking1624705747 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 Hi guys, i m looking for a 7m subwoofer cable, is there any place for custom made 1? roughly how much? thanks! As what cmk has recommended, LHS at SLT 2nd floor sells Belden 1694a cable at $3 a meter & the Canare Crimp RCA plugs at $7 each. For your 7m cable, it will be ($3 x 7m = $21) + ($7 x 2plugs=$14) = $35 ;)

zapp1624705742 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 1694a are used for professional installation so i think the quality should be good enough :p I am sure Robert will be happy if u wanna pay $5 per meter :p (joking) But seriously, if you do a search in the forums the 1694 is usually more than sufficient. It is used by a number of bros here. Canare L-5CB is also an alternative (this is the one i am using)

zapp1624705742 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Cant remember but not too far off from Belden's 1694a. Pay LHS a visit and you suddenly find good value for money cables :p
naglfar Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 Cant remember but not too far off from Belden's 1694a. Pay LHS a visit and you suddenly find good value for money cables :p I think the 1694a is a good buy. I am using 2 runs of that right now for my subs. Works great. I opted for the cheaper soldered RCA plug ($3 per piece), didn't want to spend too much on sub cables. Go try it out. I don;t think it's necessary to spend too much on sub cables.

ccwjames Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 actualy is there any differents between subwoofer cable or component cable? if i combine 3 sub cable is equaly to a component cable right?
cmk Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 actualy is there any differents between subwoofer cable or component cable? if i combine 3 sub cable is equaly to a component cable right? There is an important difference. If you want your pictures to be clear/sharp, you should use the standard 75ohm high wandwidth cables for component only. You can use other cables, but do not expect the best images. Now the question is whether you can use component cable for sub, and the answer is yes. Some are actually not bad in this application.
zapp1624705742 Posted January 3, 2007 Posted January 3, 2007 which is the case for the belden 1694a :p
ccwjames Posted January 3, 2007 Author Posted January 3, 2007 which is the case for the belden 1694a :p so this belden is speacialy for subwoofer or component? :)
vink Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 so this belden is speacialy for subwoofer or component? :) General guide is true 75 ohms rated video cables can be used for either video and audio applications with good results. However, it is not recommended to substitute video cables with audio only type (unless proven good).
ccwjames Posted January 5, 2007 Author Posted January 5, 2007 anyone knows what time does the LHS in SLT close on weekdays?
oliverlim Posted January 5, 2007 Posted January 5, 2007 They close at 7pm on weekdays. Also I prefer Canare LV77 as a sub cable. It has better shielding and hum rejection which I feel is more important for a sub interconnect. Alittle more ex though. Oliver
