Alpc Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 As in the strain of the thread for lcd tv.... What do I do for plasma tv then? I know I need to get the cables ready.... But how and what to check the plasma tv before they leave? ???
treesmaker Posted December 28, 2006 Posted December 28, 2006 To prevent burn-in Get the technician to turn down the contast to about 30% and set your screen to shift very 20 or 30 seconds, Oh and don't use enchanced picture, normal will do.
Alpc Posted December 28, 2006 Author Posted December 28, 2006 is that all? The contrast thingy I know.... Told the guy that I worry about plasma burn-in issue and all that and he showed me about the contrast changes etc....
Corona11 Posted December 29, 2006 Posted December 29, 2006 There is nothing much really except to learn the operational features and check that all connections work.
Alpc Posted December 30, 2006 Author Posted December 30, 2006 Er... Kind of hard to check all connections if they work if you do not have any player which has such connections... Time to look for a new DVD player.... Thinking of the OPPO one, but not sure if I could just plug-in the speakers from the old HiTB onto this player (effectively replacing the player with this player).... ???
vink Posted December 30, 2006 Posted December 30, 2006 is that all? The contrast thingy I know.... Told the guy that I worry about plasma burn-in issue and all that and he showed me about the contrast changes etc.... You can find some pertinent infos on plasma burn-in at this site : http://www.jscreenfix.com/ Can't comment whether method is effective since I don't owned a plasma panel and my LCD is still pixel perfect (touch wood......) Think should be fine if you follow thru all the recommended precautions. .vink
lwm99 Posted January 2, 2007 Posted January 2, 2007 For the first 100 hours, try to watch shows (DVD, TV programmes or others) that occupy full screen. Avoid having black bars, especially DVD movies of 2.35:1. And of course don't watch a particular channel for too long. CNA will be a no-no.
Alpc Posted January 4, 2007 Author Posted January 4, 2007 But.... But... Most if not all of my DVDs are widescreen!!!
armoury Posted January 4, 2007 Posted January 4, 2007 Watch either 1.85:1 movies (most Spielberg), or better yet 16:9 widescreen TV shows. Those will fill in the entire screen. Most stretch modes are quite acceptable, I've gotten quite used to mine when watching broadcast 4:3 TV. Watch that, then. But remember to avoid channels with large chunks of static display, i.e. most news channels. And even the other stuff you'll have to change every so often, because of the damned station logo in the corner.
