sgsparkplug Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Hi guys, Juz bought the above unit and connect it thru HDMI to my plasma(can display up to 1080i). When viewing DVD, the HDMI can only output to 576p and after checking the specs from the menu it states that HDMI is indeed only able to display up to 576p!! I thought this set has upscaling function and all HDMI output is capable to show up to 1080i? Iif there is, can anyone advise how to get 1080i display? If cannot, damn disappointed man, will need to connect my Philips DVD player to display 1080i(extra player on the TV cabinet).......liao Juz to check, will using component gives me 1080i? Thanks. CHeers.
htfreak Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 Unfortunately you are another victim of Samsung's false advertising. The 735 DVD recorder does not have the chipsets necessary to perform the upscaling function. That is only found in the 745 which Samsung Singapore has not brought in. My recommendation is that if you bought it based on the advice of some sales guy in one of the big departmental stores, bring it back to them and demand a refund from their management.
sgsparkplug Posted December 19, 2006 Author Posted December 19, 2006 Hi Jeff, Thanks for the advise. Wow, like that also can ah..... Btw, I got it for $299 during last Sat promo at BD. Looks like I have no choice but to use the Philips player to view 1080i DVDs. Think will not exchange the recorder as I got it for quite a low price. Maybe will call Samsung to check with them. I checked some online website selling this model and they state that it can display 1080i......:( Thanks again. Merry Xmas and wish u a Happy New Year!!! CHeers.
Phil1624705739 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Actually, this unit is supposed to support 1080i/720p according to your brochure but I guess this was taken out in subsequent revisions. Even their SG website is showing 576p which is PAL progressive so it is not exactly false advertising too. Phil
