That's odd - Mediamonkey should be able to play it. I believe Winamp needs a plug-in to play .ape files. I wonder if the file has been corrupted. If you have foobar or dbpoweramp you should be able to convert to flac or some other format and see if it plays.

Not clear to me which app u are using to burn cd, but if you're using Nero, then u need the Monkey Audio plugin available here  ...

I had extracted the plugin into ahead\nero folder.

Take note of the following highlighted in the URL I provided previously....

Using The Plugins

    * Nero Burning ROM version 5.5.9.0 or higher is required for all plugins.

    * For Nero version 5, unzip the plugin DLL into "...\Ahead\Shared\AudioPlugins" directory.

    * For Nero version 6, unzip the plugin DLL into "\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\AudioPlugins" directory.

    * The first two letters of the plugin DLL name must be "nx" in lower case, otherwise it won't be recognized by Nero Burning ROM.

Hi bro, thank you very much for your detailed help. After adding the dll into the audio plugins folder, the ape file no longer a unrecognised format after dragging over. But yet to burn to hear the quality how. Will follow up this thread. Thanks.  ;)

If you use Burrrn, you suppose to load the CUE file that link to the APE file. (But I think it can load APE file too).

If you have a slow processor, when you click BURRRN, it will process the APE file at the background (it looks like the PC hang but it is NOT). Be patient, let it run by itself and you go your own things. I am sure it will work. ;)

Thanks again. My processor is P4 3.2 and 2G DDR ram so should not be any problem. When i add file, the list table just remain as empty without visble difference that will tell me "Processing Now". Now only can burn as a single file without the cue's help to separate it to individual tracks.  :(

That sound strange to me.

When you add the APE file to BURRRN, you should see the name of APE file that you add in. OR a list of Songs name in it if you add the CUE file that link to the APE.

And you click 'BURRRN', it you show you a dialog box showing "Processing files, please wait. Decoding file #1 of (total number of songs) Total". You will see a 'Cursor' blink in a empty box. When it complete the processing, it will start to write to the CDR.

While I am writing this, I am writing a APE file to a CDR. The PC that I use is a AMD Duron processor which is much slower that yours, it takes less than 10 mins to finished the processing and now it start writing to CDR at 4X speed.

Are you able to play the APE file using "Monkey Audio", "Foobar2000" or "Exact Audio Copy (EAC)"?

You may find this applications from below:

http://www.monkeysaudio.com/download.html

http://www.foobar2000.org/

http://www.exactaudiocopy.de/

Try decompress the APE file by using "Monkey Audio" or "EAC" to WAVE (WAV) file. If you can extract it that means the APE file should be in good condition, else I think most likely the APE file is damaged.

If you just want to play it, Foobar2000 should be able to play it. Same thing here..if it cannot play, most likely it is damage.

Hope the above help. Good luck! 8)
