SiriuslyCold Posted November 28, 2006 Posted November 28, 2006 http://www6.head-fi.org/forums/showthread.php?t=209012 So at the local Toronto meet last weekend we were lucky enough to have an Ultrasone representative present. And he left us this awesome "Ultrasone" CD that literally made us all scream in disbelief. We listened to the CD first with Ultrasone's 2200 cans (~250 USD) from a Hornet "M". Just incredible. The first track had such incredible imaging that we thought that the music was coming from another room. However after trying other headphones, it was apparent that the recordings themselves had a lot to do with the incredible sound. Regardless, it's an awesome CD. I call it a "benchmark" CD because it has 20 tracks, including a wide variety from ambient, Jazz, classical, tuning forks, wildlife, shorelines and whatnot. This is probably the most amazing sounding compilation I've ever tried. It's just magnificent, and I'm running it ampless out of my ipod to SR-60s/D-Jays. On higher end cans, you've never heard anything like it. With really nice imaging cans like K1000s I'm sure not much can come close to how well mastered the CD is. We kind of got permission to share the CD, so I grabbed it, converted it to (lowest level compression) FLAC. download the disc here (bittorrent) or the RAR archive
maxngck Posted December 23, 2006 Posted December 23, 2006 hi! can any1 out there help to keep the seed going? me stuck at 97.7%. left 6 mb only. d/l now is 0kb/s but keep uploading only :( pls help. thks!
civicguy Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Hi bro maxngck. I answered your question in here cause I wanted share with bros here how I did it. Hope you dont mind. Basically, what I did today was to use a software I already had called Audio DVD creator (http://www.audio-dvd-creator.com/). Dont ask me where I got this software from. I love it as I use it to burn audio stuff that will not fit into a CD but into a DVD format (e.g. LOTR Complete Recordings). But as I dont have the codecs, I have to download the DShow Decorder (http://www.audio-dvd-creator.com/faq-detail.htm#sec1_2 and http://corecodec.org/projects/coreflac) into my PC. Then using the Audio DVD Creator, I then choose "Audio CD" (instead of Audio DVD) and Audio DVD creator now recognised FLAC format and then will allow me to burn a normal CD out of it. Now I playing the CD version of this soundtrack in my Oppo. Sounds good to me but my system is so so only :) Let me know if you need more help. You can also get a list of software to burn FLAC to CD format at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FLAC#CDDA_Burning
louco73 Posted December 24, 2006 Posted December 24, 2006 Sounds good to me but my system is so so only :) Sounds damn good to me, some amazing tracks to really test your system. Why iTunes can't play FLAC is beyond me, sigh. I downloaded Winamp which plays FLAC without a problem. When I redo my HTPC with Vista I'm going to have to reconsider what music program I use.

Quest88 Posted December 27, 2006 Posted December 27, 2006 Bookmarked for future reference! Thanks Quest! foobar's my favourite at the moment cos it lets us select output driver and works well with ASIO. but i noticed you are using soundcard as processor so may not have such a big difference. :) actually, back to the topic, i can't seem to download this thing at all! stuck at 13% nobody seems to be seeding. internet's been all wonky today too.

Oh well, I'll install it and play with it soon and see what it's like. The internet is crap because of some cable damage after the earthquakes in Taiwan. If you need it really bad send me an IM. :)
