Quest88 Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Ok, dunno much about lcd tvs, but saw some offers from amazon.com. Looks really great man. For example: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HKLIVI/?m=ATVPDKIKX0DER 42 inch lcd hdtv for US$1.9k with 10% off all HD purchases for the next year. Are singapore prices really that inflated? Also just wondering.. has anyone ever bothered to import a HDTV? What are the issues around this other than warranty?
Quest88 Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 nobody knows? :P if too risky i will just go to sitex and pick myself up a tv there.

Quest88 Posted November 29, 2006 Author Posted November 29, 2006 the tuner will be for NTSC standard. also, you might have to use a transformer if the TV only supports 110V AC transformer no issue. but tuner? i thought most people plug in the starhub cable so theoretically nobody uses the tuner right? or hardly anyone.
simic Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 ;) i'm the dodo that still lives in the dinsaur age. Not willing to pay the green man for more. anything i cant get from the free to air channels, there is always the Internet to get your fav shows.
antpink Posted November 29, 2006 Posted November 29, 2006 US TV's are only NTSC - even if you plug in Starhub cable (assuming only using analogue connections) than the local replay format of PAL will just not work. The US is a captive market to the US - although we can take our TV's over there (ours are multi-format). Would advise against it.
Darthfunk Posted November 30, 2006 Posted November 30, 2006 I agree with Antpink the US only uses NTSC format. It will be just a white elephant here. Go check out Sharp's latest 1080p HDTV drool :-*
Quest88 Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 hmmm... but for me i am only using the lcd tv for PC.. is that PAL or NTSC?
