New Wave Guy Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Hi All :) I've just registered in this interesting forum. I'm a huge fan of New Wave music and I guess there are some of you also love New Wave music because I read in the topic 'What Are You Listening Now", there are many 80s New Wave songs listed there. I remember one of you ask about Anything Box, I have their album "Living in Oblivion", which contains great synth-pop songs and one nice ballad song called "Carmen". I also have "Juliet" - Robin Gibb in his album "How Old Are You", but I only have "Boys Do Fall In Love" is cassette format ("Secret Agent" album). Have you ever heard about the band called Industry, their biggest hit song is "State of The Nation". Their one & only album "Stranger to Stranger" is great but very rare in CD (I only have in cassette and a copy CD from my friend who bought it via e-bay at US$ 120, and surprisingly the CD is released by EMI Fillipine, yes they're from US but famous enough in Manila, Fillipine). Ok, maybe it's already too long, hope you're not bored ;) Please send any comment about new wave music, so we can start this topic. Regards, danny
New Wave Guy Posted November 30, 2006 Author Posted November 30, 2006 Warm welcome Danny to XPF :) Thanks Daniel, nice to meet you. Why this topic is very quite. Are you a new wave fan also? To JT, did you receive my e-mail yesterday about Retro and Rare Remixed? Thanks.
armoury Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 Quiet? For a variety of reasons I guess: (1) this is mainly a home theater forum, so less activity in the music section; (2) new wave has been discussed before, mainly under the topic "retro" or "80s"; (3) us old fogeys probably don't want to give away the fact that we're that old by admitting we listened to (and liked!) new wave music. But if you really want to discuss: Duran Duran v. Spandau Ballet v. Culture Club v. Depeche Mode. That should get you going... ;D
SiriuslyCold Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 best would be a celebrity death match, and everyone gets killed
Chowbotak Posted December 1, 2006 Posted December 1, 2006 The "new wave" I loved was from '79 to '83. Lost touch from 84 onwards as by then, they have begun to sound more pop. I think most new wave fans are more into the mid 80's stuff as they were more palatable than the early 80's stuff
Geneticfreak Posted December 3, 2006 Posted December 3, 2006 Wat do u guys think of Robbie Williams's rendition of Kiss Me?
