sas_aaron Posted November 24, 2006 Posted November 24, 2006 Lately into Gore-Horror / Shock-Fest Horror. i prefer bloody-slasher/zombie horror, rather than spooks or cheap-scare ghost movies. Examples of Gore/Shockfest are like: ------------------------------------------- Dawn of the Dead (2004 remake) Hostel The Hills Have Eyes (remake) Land of the Dead Evil Dead Evil Dead 2 Shaun of the Dead (a personal favourite) High Tension Cabin Fever Saw 1 Saw 2 Is there any fan of such genre? Hope anyone can add more titles which belongs in this category . ;D
Ken.Ishiwata Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 These should qualify for Gore/Shockfest: House of Wax Saw 1 and 2
InnocentBlood Posted November 25, 2006 Posted November 25, 2006 when you mentioned Dawn of the Dead, do you mean the 2004 remake? i'd also suggest Cabin Fever which was directed by Eli Roth, the same guy who did Hostel.
sas_aaron Posted November 26, 2006 Author Posted November 26, 2006 yeah i love Cabin Fever and SAW series! forgot to put them in.. thanks for reminder! House of Wax never see b4, gonna try it out soon ;D Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake and Battle Royale too! ;D
InnocentBlood Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 the first Nightmare on Elm Street movie is one of the best slasher movies ever made, imo. i used to have bad dreams after seeing it for the first time when i was 11 or 12 ;D other extreme stuff that i would also recommend include Last House on the Left by Wes Craven and Cannibal Holocaust.
Ken.Ishiwata Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Cannibal Holocaust! Yes i second that for GORE, SICKNESS and VERY DISTURBING! When i watched it a few years back, it made me an anti-meat eater for a couple of weeks. Fish and vegetables, no red meat!
zamus_aran Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 Actually, what disturbs me more about Cannibal Holocaust is the scene in which a turtle was killed. I read that this is the only scene where no special effects were used. The scenes where the cannibals slash and ate the young filmmakers weren't so disturbing to me since I know that they are faked. As for the list of gore-horror films, the Friday the 13th & Halloween series surely deserve special mention. Also, The Fly remake by David Cronenberg. I can't imagine a person having his teeth and fingernails falling off so easily, and that is just the beginning.......
InnocentBlood Posted November 26, 2006 Posted November 26, 2006 just finished watching High Tension... that was some good, twisted stuff from the French ;D

I agree - the turtle scene was VERY disturbing. And another very disturbing aspect of the movie was the soundtrack. Somehow those piano pieces adds a creepiness to the whole movie. Movies with high shock value factor? Aftermath, and also Nekromantik. Top of my list. There's some really really sick scenes in those movies. If you're wondering - those 2 movies deals with the subject of necrophilia. Also high on my list: Salo. High on gore value: The Beyond (Lucio Fulci). There's some very graphic stuffs there. Also highly recommended are movies by Dario Argento. Suspiria and Opera are some of my all-time favourites. Excellent atmospheric Italian giallo thriller.
zamus_aran Posted November 27, 2006 Posted November 27, 2006 Wow...thanks for your recommendations, naglfar. I never knew about all the films you mentioned except for Suspiria. The only Dario Argento movies I watched are Demons and Demons 2....... Another 2 additions to the shock-fest list: Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses and its sequel, The Devil's Rejects. Both films depict an extremely sadistic and maniacal family of murderers.

Other shockers that I forgot to mention: Entrails of a beautiful women, Entrails of a virgin (Over the top shock value...girl rips off arm of a bloody monster and masturbates with it!) Audition (that wire mutilation scene can be tough to watch...) Irreversible (20 mins rape scene, and also see a guy gets whacked in the head repeatedly with a fire extinguisher...VERY graphic) Maniac (underground serial killer flick, this one makes Freddy looks tame) For over-the-top shocker, nothing beats Nekromantik....seeing someone sucking the eyeball out of a rotting corpse...not easy to watch

Jason Yeo Posted December 9, 2006 Posted December 9, 2006 Irreversible (20 mins rape scene, and also see a guy gets whacked in the head repeatedly with a fire extinguisher...VERY graphic) The first 20 to 30mins constant non stop deep bass also very disturbing ;D
khewa Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 anybody watched "Singapore Sling" ? . Heard it's really sick. Of course, it's not made in Singapore.
Ender1624705735 Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Just watched 'Feast'. It has all the usual gore. But it's also very entertaining and funny.
