Quest88 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Hi, need some help here. Recently got a new dvdp for my parents and got them component cables to hook up, but there is no picture. Seeing this problem, I hooked up another dvdp and got a PINK picture (at least got signal). As the tv has 2 component inputs, I tried on both. Both have the same problem for both dvdp. I also changed the component cable at the shop, and still have identical problems. From my troubleshooting, I'm thinking it is a tv problem. Anyone have any idea what can go wrong here? It is unlikely that both the component input are faulty in the same way.. but I tried playing with the settings and nothing changes. Hope someone can advise. :) The tv is a Panasonic CRT tv about a year old.
JT Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Need to know the exact model# of your tv and dvd player.
Quest88 Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 Ok, find out the tv model later. :) All I remember is that its a Panasonic 40" CRT tv with 100hz. The 2 dvdp I tested were the Snazio Net DVD Cinema 1300 (no image), and a cheap Toshiba dvdp (pink image). The Snazio dvdp component out was tested to be working when I bought from another forumer. Now using s-video input which has no problems.
pschia Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 For all dvdp, the default video output is composite and S--video. To output component video, it is usually necessary to change the video output mode to component video in the dvdp's Setup menu. Hope you have done that.
pcking1624705747 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 When U connect both DVDps, did U enabled Progrressive Scan on the players or on the TV ? R the players outputting PAL progressive which the TV might not be able to accept ?

Quest88 Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks guys.. 1) Yes, have changed the dvdp output mode, but only for snazio. Will try for the toshiba dvdp. For tv input, yes, did change to component input - thats how I got the pink image for the toshiba dvdp. 2) Only did progressive scan mode for the snazio dvdp (no effect), and also played with progressive scan on tv (no effect). For PAL progressive, I am not too sure either.. the snazio can actually output either PAL or NTSC progressive to what I recall, and neither works. For NTSC/PAL output from s-video, both works on the tv. Thanks for the suggestions. Can go home try some of these variations on the toshiba.
kMan1624705733 Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Possibly your dvdp (snazio?) is upscaling type and previous owner might have set to upscale whilst your Panny TV only takes 480p? You might want to connect first by composite or s-video and set the component video output to just 480p. My experience with Momitsu and Panny TV.....when I forgot to switch back to 480p... Also my older Panny TV can't take PAL progressive....but can still see image albeit distorted. Hope it helps.
