ks Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 I was thinking of getting the ushers as HT setup. Since I have XR55 and a PB10, I can either think of doing 1) 2 pairs of S520 and a Usher Centre for 5.1 or 2) 3 pairs of S520 for a 6.1 Any comments?
petetherock Posted November 9, 2006 Posted November 9, 2006 Dude How big is your room? Where will you put the speakers? For a diffuse effect, 7.1 is better. There have been discussions before on this, where others have said a single rear speaker makes it sound like a pin point source coming from behind you, so having 3 pairs of direct radiating speakers may not be ideal. ks Posted November 10, 2006 Author Posted November 10, 2006 hm...sounds like i should be using bipolar for rear channel. How much are the definitetech bipolar speakers in Singapore?
desray Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Not necessarily. If your Amp or Receiver supports 7.1 channel output and if you also have spare cash to spend on another pair of surround back speakers coupled with enough space in your living room or dedicated HT room...then its worth it...its never too "many" to have in HT world. But if you're talking about good sound quality deriving from "more" pairs of speakers...then this is not entirely true. I have seen an HT room with just the standard 5.1 setup and it sounded very good as compared to another forumer's setup with 7.1 speaker settings. Alot of factors contirbute to the whole HT experience...and when it comes to audio...its very subjective...not "more" equates to "good sound quality". Some of the factors which contribute to good sounding audio includes...the room itself, treatment, and of course the speaker as well as the Amp/Receiver setup and nominal power etc...
