SiriuslyCold Posted October 30, 2006 Posted October 30, 2006 check out this discussion on SH forums. very interesting. EMI Music Chairman and Chief Executive Alain Levy Friday told an audience at the London Business School that the CD is dead, saying music companies will no longer be able to sell CDs without offering "value-added" material. "The CD as it is right now is dead," Levy said, adding that 60% of consumers put CDs into home computers in order to transfer material to digital music players. an EMI insider says this is likely to be in the OpenDisc format like the new Robbie album http://www.opendisc.net/
kzone Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 That will only mean a rise in CD prices as it targets the niche market.. so better start buying more CDs now
SiriuslyCold Posted October 31, 2006 Author Posted October 31, 2006 i think the record companies are trying to find a justification for keeping the prices as they are - people are already buying less CDs, what more if they increase prices
