any idea if it supports Chinese font?

does it require any server software to stream or it can simply read from any shared folders available in the workgroup/network?

sorry, I dunno.

Perhaps you can do the research and update us

Wah!

You dug up so many moons thread to ask the question ah?

  • Author

might have been more productive googling it instead, methinks

if I can find the answer, I dun need to dig so many threads liao lor....

anyway, here is the update : status unknown......still

does't support Chiness  dua to only 2 line VFD .

If you have a router with USB ,you can attach HD and it can browse the files and folder.

The output is a 5mm phone jack and optical and coxial

The unit support wireless and NIC

any idea what's the difference between M1000 and M1001?

I only found M1001 supporting 1 line of unicode for Japanese and Chinese font.

the problem is, by capping the sampling rate output to 48kHz, even for toslink output, does it make any sense to be a FLAC player?

The dif is SD card slot ,this device is good only for people wanted just to stream audio not audiophile you get wat i means ?

wait a minute, I just recalled most CDs are encoded at 44.1kHz, not even 48kHz. any idea if there is any CD doing 48kHz and beyond?

As long as it is able to do lossless in the real lossless way, it's good enough for audiophile who are lazy to manage the CDs hee....but you dun need to be an audiophile to differentiate the huge difference between MP3s and FLAC what?

1 last thing, can it stream any shared folders available on the network? Currently all my medias are stored in the shared folder of PCH A-100, not PC. The Squeezebox3 seems to be working only on specific server application.

Pt 1 is sampling you means ? if so there is , but not for domestic .

Pt 2 I only refer to it SQ O/P from the unit , but is just personal .

Pt 3 it work with netgear with a bult in server SW , I have use it with HP media server ,Linksys NAS and D-link with some twist on it.

SB -3 can support chiness front in some-way only ? if it files and folder it would not work well so far for me. if your ( PCH-100 ) folder are able to be discover in your network than I don't know why the M1000 can't see it ? but just not for SB3 in this case.

no. it won't play in CD players if its 48kHz.

if we use the optical or coaxial output to a standalone DAC, is there a difference between this unit an the SB3? because we will bypass the internal DACs

Jitter readings, perhaps?

I am a bit confused by the toslink output. Some people said the SPDIF quality is related to DAC, I always thought SPDIF is digital and it shouldn't be any difference in output quality regardless of the device used. Please correct me if I'm wrong.....

a DAC (Digital to Analog Converter) does what its name implies - convert digital signal to analog. theoretically a SPDIF output from digital devices should be exactly the same regardless of the source because you are bypassing the internal DAC

perhaps you should ask "these people" what they mean.
